Automotive Skills Center (ASC)

ASC has the space, tools, equipment and technical assistance for people to make their own car repairs. It contains 14 repair stalls, 11 overhaul stalls, three lubrication racks, two self-service car wash stalls, a computerized engine systems analyzer, computer wheel balancing, disc and drum brake resurfacing and electric and gas welding. In addition, the center provides free technical information from the Alldata Automotive Information Programs on DVD from 1982 to present. Customers may also purchase oil, filters and automotive fluids, as well as parts through ASC. Plus, wholesale tires may be purchased through Waukegan Tire at ASC. In addition, the center provides a Cannon 5000 car wash system, featuring high-pressure soap, a foaming brush and tire cleaning equipment. There are two car wash bays and coin-operated vacuums.

MWR Library

The MWR Library is located in the Navy’s first Lifelong Learning Center. The library has more than 27,000 books, newspapers and magazines in stock for all ages to enjoy. The library has a separate children’s room and collection as well. Other services include 16 computers with Internet access and printers, a copy machine, a scanner, a microfiche reader/printer, hundreds of DVDs, and audio books and music on CDs. Surf the net at no charge using our network that is connected via a high-speed ISDN connection, or bring your own wireless enabled device, and enjoy our free Wi-Fi network. There are no fees or charges for services.

The Loft/Liberty Program

The Enlisted Sailor Program (Liberty) is based out of The Loft for active duty military personnel. This contemporary facility features pool, ping-pong and foosball tables, three music rooms, a gigantic video arcade featuring both pay and free video games, Zapper’s Snack Bar, a small conference room, a computer room and a mini movie theater with a 120-inch projection screen. In addition, there is a lounge, equipped with multiple 42-inch flat-screen plasma TVs, tables and a number of recliner couches and chairs. The Loft is an alcohol and smoke-free facility, and serves as the headquarters for the Liberty Program. The Liberty Program staff run a variety of exciting programs each month including special events, workshops, tournaments, trips and more, both on and off base. A variety of tickets are also on sale at The Loft to sporting events and area attractions.

Ross Theater

Ross Theater shows first-run movies for only $2 (military) and $3 (DoD), with superior sound and projection quality. Our seats with cup holders make for a comfortable environment. A concession area in the lobby offers delicious treats at value prices. Ross Theater is also available for rental, providing support aids to make for successful meetings. RTC Recreation Center

Providing recreational opportunities for newly graduated recruits and visiting families, the RTC Recreation Center is an introduction to MWR services that will be enjoyed at future duty stations. Approximately 15,000 to 20,000 customers visit this facility per month. This center is fully equipped with a mini movie theater, featuring an 85-inch projection screen, a computer room with Internet access, a large game room with pool tables, electronic video games, ping-pong tables and a commons area to socialize or play board games. Plus, Zapper’s Snack Bar offers delicious snack food. A variety of tickets are also on sale at the RTC Recreation Center to area attractions.

Rynish Bowling Center (RBC)

The Rynish Bowling Center offers league play on 32 lanes that are sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress. A variety of adult and youth bowling leagues and other exciting events are offered year-round. Also located in Rynish is a fully equipped video arcade, complete with a variety of video games and pool tables; plus a party area for small groups. Another exciting feature at Rynish is “Planet Bowl,” glow-in-the-dark bowling, which consists of special effects, music and lighting while you bowl. RBC is also home to the 11th Frame Lounge and Parcheezi’s Express Restaurant.

The Wall (Climbing Wall)

“The Wall” is a 32-foot climbing structure with auto belays for both beginner and advanced climbers. Climbers may go through an orientation class, which includes instruction on belaying, harnesses, safety and tying figure-8 knots. Bring the family to the climbing wall, which can accommodate climbing gear for children 35 pounds or more. Daily and monthly climbing passes are available. Birthday parties and group functions are available at special rates at the Climbing Wall.
