The Fort Knox Garrison provides the greater Fort Knox community with essential services, support and facilities necessary for quality of life and organizational missions.
DIRECTORATE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES
The Directorate of Emergency Services supports those who support our nation by delivering first-class law enforcement, fire protection, physical security and access control operations for the Soldiers, Families and civilians of Fort Knox through education, prevention and efficient emergency service response.
The directorate consists of the Fire Division, Law Enforcement Division, Physical Security Section and 911 Communications Center. The 911 Center provides 24-hour assistance and central dispatching for all post emergency services — police, fire, ambulance and rescue.
The Fire Division’s team is committed to providing exceptional fire protection to Fort Knox. It is responsible for providing fire and emergency protection for more than 108,000 acres, including the Bullion Depository. The fire department averages more than 1,200 runs per year. The division also provides a very successful fire prevention program.
The Law Enforcement Division’s mission is to “assist, protect and defend.” Soldiers and civilians provide law enforcement patrolling, traffic accident investigations, police investigations, fish and wildlife enforcement, police records, vehicle and weapons registration, and civil liaison services.
The division is supported by the 34th Military Police Detachment, which deploys military police assets throughout the world to conduct military police law and order operations, while simultaneously providing law enforcement and community assistance to the Soldiers, Families and visitors of Fort Knox.
The Physical Security Division’s mission is to assist the installation commander and director of Emergency Services in all aspects of physical security for military members and their Families, federal employees, officials and visitors in a professional and cost-effective manner by deploying a highly trained and multidisciplined guard force and physical security inspection team.
DIRECTORATE OF HUMAN RESOURCES
The mission of the Directorate of Human Resources is to provide Fort Knox with human resource support for military personnel as well as continuing education, substance abuse prevention, administrative services and workforce development. It ensures the personnel readiness of assigned units, takes care of Soldier’s personal needs, and trains and develops the garrison civilian workforce.
DIRECTORATE OF PUBLIC WORKS
The Directorate of Public Works administers all engineering activities for the installation, including environmental management, real property maintenance and management, housing management and municipal services. Specific activities included within DPW are maintenance of real property facilities, either through contracts or in-house workforce; operation and maintenance of utility plants and distribution systems; engineering and services; custodial services; nonhousing refuse pickup; grounds maintenance; energy management; environmental management; fish and wildlife management; master planning; space utilization; housing services to include the Residential Communities Initiative and the First Sergeants Barracks Program; and oversight of the installation major construction program.
DIRECTORATE OF PLANS, TRAINING, MOBILIZATION AND SECURITY
The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security’s responsibilities include managing contingency and mobilization planning operations, scheduling resident and nonresident training, managing the range complex, training areas and range modernization. It also provides aviation support, training aids and audiovisual support as well as coordinating force integration activities, conducting installation-level ceremonies and operating the installation operations center.
EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY OFFICE
The Equal Employment Opportunity Office administers the discrimination complaint process for Department of the Army civilian employees at Fort Knox, along with the Affirmative Employment Program Plan, the Disability Program and Special Emphasis Program committees and is responsible for educating the workforce in all aspects of equal employment opportunity.
PLANS, ANALYSIS AND INTEGRATION OFFICE
The Plans, Analysis and Integration Office is responsible for assessing and integrating Army transformation initiatives to include the analysis of strategic-level data used by senior leadership in setting operational priorities and developing policy at the garrison, installation and Department of the Army levels. PAIO services and programs include stationing management, customer service excellence, strategic planning, integrating operations, organizational performance measurement, change management and organizational improvement.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OFFICE
The Resource Management Office is composed of two sections: the Manpower and Agreements Division and the Budget Division.
The Manpower and Agreements Division maintains interservice support agreements, memorandums of agreement and memorandums of understanding, and the internal compliance program and management control program within the garrison. This section also updates the table of distribution and allowances for manpower and equipment for the garrison.
The annual Installation Management Command budget guidance is published each fall by the Budget Division. Detailed budget guidance is sent to garrison leadership upon receipt. In accordance with IMCOM guidance, funding supports: sustaining the war and all-volunteer force, synchronizing global positioning and restationing, stationing of modular forces, and adapting programs and services to support an expeditionary Army and the future Army community.
