Due to the geographical location
of NSA Mid-South, a large number of married senior enlisted personnel and officers opt to spend their tour as geographical bachelors. There are 83 private rooms in buildings S-447 and S-449, each with its own bath, full-size bed, full-size refrigerator, microwave and access to telephone and cable TV services (for a fee). For further information on geographical bachelor housing, contact NSA Mid-South MWR at (901) 874-5650 (DSN 882).
Currently, single permanent party personnel (E-1 to E-4) assigned to the host and tenant commands are provided berthing accommodation in building S-453. However, if occupancy rate in these buildings is less than 95 percent, single E-5 and E-6 permanent party personnel will be accommodated. Due to the limited berthing capacity at NSA Mid-South, single E-7 to E-9 personnel and all officers are encouraged to draw single Basic Allowance for Housing and live off base. Single E-1 to E-6 residents are assigned to Buildings S-453 and S-454 and are provided a private room with a private bath. In-room furnishing includes a full-size bed, headboard, credenza, large mirror, lamp, round table, two chairs, desk with carrel, storage units, large refrigerator and wall art. Amenities include a medium-size microwave, and access to telephone and cable TV services (for a fee). A wide screen TV (with cable service) and a laundry room are located on each deck. A kitchenette is located on all three floors for use by residents. For additional information, call (901) 874-5724 (DSN 882).
The Housing Welcome Center is located in the O’Kane Building (S-781, 874-5547), and is open weekdays, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Directional signs are posted to help newcomers find the building.
There are 594 family housing units on board NSA Mid-South. Those desiring family housing can apply by mail or in person using Form DD 1746, available in Transition Assistance Centers or Housing Referral Offices. A copy of the PCS orders and copy of the current Record of Emergency Data must accompany the application.
In order to receive your previous detachment date as the control date, applications must be submitted and verified within 30 days of the report-by date.
All personnel, E-1 through 0-10, who are covered by a Support Agreement (DD Form 1144), possess PCS orders and have dependents who reside with them at least nine consecutive months of the year are eligible.
Applicants must have at least six months remaining on their tour in order to be assigned to base housing. Placement on the waiting list is determined in accordance with Navy policy. Once Family Housing is assigned, the service member will forfeit their full BAH at the “with dependents rate.”
Each family residing in Navy Family Housing is allowed to have two domestic pets, provided the animals are registered with both the Veterinary Clinic and the Security Office. Pets may be kept in fenced areas in backyards.
On base housing residents should submit an “Intent to Vacate Quarters” to the Housing Office at least 30 days before detachment date. Occupants will be required to meet established standards of quarter’s cleanliness and reimburse the government for any damage to the quarters and its contents.
