Roll up your sleeves at the auto skills center, a perfect spot for do-it-yourself mechanics and those who like to save money on repairs. The large, complete auto workshop features 22 work bays, wheel balancing, tool checkout, a paint booth and welding equipment. An ASE-certified master mechanic is available on-site. An in-house safety test is mandatory before participation. Long pants and shoes are required. Children younger than age 16 are not permitted in or around the facility.

Get under the hood and get it done at this auto skills facility, a NAPA-certified auto care center with ASE-certified mechanics on-hand. The center features 27 vehicle bays (12 with lifts) and a retail parts and accessory store, which offers car care classes and performs service repairs. Monthly specials feature savings on the center's services. See the cashier for information on recycling used lube oil, antifreeze and tires. This facility also includes a secure area to store autos, boats, trailers and recreational vehicles. Parking is free for deployed sailors for their primary automobile. The car wash next to the auto center is open 24 hours a day, daily.

This full-service gym is your one-stop spot for all things fit and fun. The facility offers exercise and aerobic fitness equipment, weight rooms with Olympic weights, dumbbells and benches. The facility includes a basketball court and three racquetball courts. Separate sauna rooms are available for men and women. Gear issue includes towels and sports equipment. Lockers are available daily or monthly. The center coordinates intramural sports, including softball, flag football, golf, tennis, racquetball, basketball, indoor volleyball, sand volleyball, soccer and badminton. Sign up here for special events such as softball tournaments, 5K runs/walks and the annual Navy 10K Run/5K Walk in April.

The gymnasium includes full-size basketball and volleyball courts, indoor racquetball courts, locker rooms with saunas, universal and free weights, a Nautilus strength training circuit and a variety of cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, step machines, stationary bicycles and cross-trainers. A complete line of energy drinks, protein supplements, weight belts, gloves and straps are available for use/sale. Lighted softball, football, soccer and little league fields are available for league play and may also be reserved.

Get fit with the help of high-tech equipment at this facility, free for all active duty service members, reservists, retirees and authorized civilian patrons. A complete line of cardio and strength training equipment is complemented by cardio theater, which allows enjoyment of a wide array of television channels and radio stations while working out. Strength training areas include a free-weight zone and an area with Nautalis and Cybex machines. Qualified instructors offer a variety of aerobics, kickboxing, Zumba, pilates, yoga and step classes throughout the week.

Located above the Youth Center Gym, the Family Fitness Center is focused on improving the health of the entire family. A child care area allows parents to bring along their children during workouts. It is open to all authorized personnel. A qualified fitness instructor/trainer is on site to assist patrons with their fitness goals. The center features a full circuit of Life Fitness equipment.

The Surfside Fitness Center features cardiovascular equipment, a complete Nautilus Nitro strength training circuit, a full calendar of fitness classes, personal trainers and an unrivaled view of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy individual music and TV channels at cardio stations during workouts. There is no charge for active duty, retirees, reservists and their family members and DoD and NAF civilians. Guests are welcome at Surfside with a sponsor for $3 per day. Certified trainers are available for Command and group appointments.

Relax while you splash or build lung and muscle strength at this pool, which is 50 meters by 25 yards, with a graduated depth from 3.5 to 12 feet. Year-round activities include aqua aerobics, water walking, swim lessons, scuba lessons and more. The pool also serves as a training area for military requirements.

Summer means wild and wet times at this pool that measures 50 meters by 25 yards, with a graduated depth from three to 12 feet. The facility features a bathhouse, wading pool, picnic patio, concession stand and deck, lanes for lap swimming, chairs, tables with umbrellas, lounge chairs and a 150-foot water slide. Call the base gym for info about summer swim lessons and scuba classes for kids. The pool can also be reserved for parties for a fee.

The base's 50-meter Olympic-size swimming pool features a splash area for young children, an 18-foot water slide, snack bar and bathhouse. Summer programs include recreation swimming (open swim), swimming lessons, novice swim team, kids' scuba and water aerobics. Seasonal swim passes are available for purchase at ITT. The pool is also available for private parties during the summer. Military lap swim is offered year-round, Monday through Friday. There is no lap swim on federal holidays, two weeks at Christmas and during February when the pool is closed for maintenance. During the winter months, the pool is heated and kept at approximately 78 degrees.

McCaffrey Softball Complex

The McCaffrey Softball Complex features four playing fields, each with a 275-foot fence, spectator bleachers, restrooms, second-floor scorers and announcer's booths, with electronic scoreboards on fields two and four. Throughout the year, the complex hosts intramural leagues, Greybeard leagues and various tournaments. A concession stand serves food and beverages.

Golf Course and Pro Shop

Escape for friendly competition in the peace and quiet of the NAS Jacksonville Golf Course, one of the finest in the area. With 27 holes of championship golf, players of all ages and skill levels will enjoy the site's beautiful tree-lined fairways and lakes. The Red and White nines are par 36, while the Blue is a par 35. The Red/White course is a demanding 6,890 yards, par 72. A full practice facility is available, as well as PGA professional staff, with an option of group or private lessons. Mulligan's Restaurant and Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, so there's no reason for your stomach to grumble on the greens.

Windy Harbor Golf Club

This 18-hole course is a par-72 with the standard obstacles one would experience anywhere, such as bunkers, water hazards and trees. What makes this facility unique is its proximity to the ocean and an intracoastal waterway, in addition to helicopters training overhead and warships nearby — providing the Windy Harbor name. Winds that typically reach 20 to 23 knots make the even easiest hole a challenge but tame the most difficult, requiring a deft management of skills. Other amenities include a putting green, driving range with a bunker and a fully stocked golf pro shop with brand-name merchandise. Walking is permissible and carts only mandatory on weekends and holidays before noon. Bogey's, a full-service restaurant, is open for breakfast, lunch and after-golf snacks. Windy Harbor also has the opportunity to offer play to our civilian neighbors who are not affiliated with the military.

Mulberry Cove Marina/Outdoor Recreation

Located on the south end of Ranger Road, along the banks of the St. Johns River, the marina is a great jumping-off point for relaxation in nature. A wide array of outdoors rental equipment is available, including kayaks, canoes and powerboats as well as tents, sleeping pads, cots, camp stoves, lanterns, large grills, coolers and turkey fryers. A store stocks bait, ice, sandwiches, beer, soda, fishing licenses, fishing tackle, sunglasses, T-shirts, outdoor recreation knives, basic boat parts and other boating supplies.

This 24-lane facility features automatic scoring and bumpers, making it a perfect place to roll with family and friends. The alley offers open bowling, league bowling, seasonal leagues, Xtreme bowling and daily specials. A fully stocked pro shop provides fitting and drilling services. Individual and group bowling lessons are available, as well as command and birthday parties.

This a state-of-the-art bowling facility features 24 lanes with the latest in automatic scoring and bumpers, plus a restaurant, a game room, pro shop and the latest in automatic scoring. The facility features Xtreme Bowling, where you can roll to the beat of a super sound system paired with music videos and the best light show in the area. Leagues offer a great opportunity to meet new friends, while the pro shot can order bowling balls, bags and shoes. The lanes can even be rented for birthday parties or other special occasions.

The Vault Liberty Recreation Center

Fleet Recreation supports the needs of afloat commands and sailors, including libraries, movie programs and the design and repair of fitness spaces and gear lockers. Fleet Recreation also coordinates all aspects of visits for U.S. and foreign vessels, ship homecomings, parties and picnics.

The Beachside Community Center includes the Castaway's Lounge, the Computer Cove with free Internet access, Wi-Fi throughout the building, a video game room and a bingo hall. A covered outside deck includes horseshoe pits and sand volleyball.
