U.S. Coast Guard Sector Anchorage has the largest geographical Area of Responsibility in the nation, which includes approximately 34,000 milesof coastline. This AOR encompasses 460 regulated waterfront facilities, 550 inspected commercial vessels, 4,000 fishing vessels, an average of 400 pollution incidents annually and an average of 200 search and rescue cases annually.

The mission of Coast Guard Sector Anchorage is to ensure the Safety, Security and Stewardship of Western Alaska and the Arctic.

USCG Sector Anchorage completed the final construction of, and relocation to, a purpose-designed, $14 million addition to the Alaska National Guard Armory on JBER during the spring of 2014. By forging partnerships with multiple state agencies, Sector Anchorage overcame the unprecedented challenge of building a state of the art facility. As a result of these efforts,Sector Anchorage successfully relocatedto its current 27,000 square foot facility, which has enhanced operational and administrative capabilities. This includes a command center, medical facility and space for Coast Guard Investigative Services, NOAA, partners and a chaplain.
