Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) covers a wide scope of worldwide operations that provide sailors and their families with the finest facilities, programs and activities to meet their recreational and social needs. MWR provides Single Sailor programs, fitness facilities, tickets and travel and motion pictures ashore. Furthermore, their programs encourage positive individual values, aid in recruitment and retention, and provide for the physical, cultural and social needs of a mobile Navy.

Movies

Dealey Theater

Monday through Thursday, 6 p.m.; Friday, 6 & 8 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday, 3, 5 & 7 p.m. Movies are shown daily.

Amenities:
The air-conditioned theater has a state-of-the-art surround sound (HPS4000) that will blow you away; 35mm projections. This 1,376-seat theater is also utilized for concerts, shows, change of commands, graduations, seminars and training sessions. Take advantage of the full snack bar with popcorn, drinks and candy. Gift certificates are available.

Tickets, Travel and Tours

Before hitting the area's theme parks or planning your next vacation to Disney World, check with your local MWR Information, Tickets & Travel (ITT) office for discounted tickets. ITT offices offer tickets to parks, museums, movie theaters, concerts and central Florida theme parks to include Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios. Military discounted rates are available to active duty, retirees, reservists, DoD civilians and family members accompanied with a military ID card.

New London MWR Recreation

SUBASE New London offers a number of MWR recreational activities for active duty, retirees and their family members and guests. Civilian employees and their family members are also eligible to use the facilities. MWR strives to provide a safe and healthy place to enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities.

Outdoor Recreation

Amenities:
Three paintball fields are available on a group reservation basis. The area also features natural hiking and mountain bike trails for individual use. Rock Lake is stocked for catch and release fishing.

Admiral Fife Recreation Area

Amenities:
A 40-acre outdoor reaction area with a two-acre pond stocked for catch and release fishing. Also accessible is a large picnic pavilion, restrooms, softball field playground, horseshoes, volleyball and a half court basketball.

Golf
Goose Run is a nine-hole, soft spike, golf course offering challenging holes, leagues, lessons, tournaments and a golf pro shop for all those necessary items to make your golf game complete.

Amenities:
Ninety-four floating concrete berths all with power and water. Restrooms, showers, washer and dryer and winter boat storage are available. Sailing lessons are offered and kayaks, canoes and sailboats are available for rent.

Amenities:
The Subase Library is equipped with computers that have access to the Internet. They also have thousands of books, hundreds of DVD's, magazines, national newspapers and books on CD, play aways and music CD's. The facility also keeps people up-to-date with constant shipments of new books, many from the New York Times Bestseller List. The facility normally receives 50 new books per month.

Liberty Programs

The MWR Single Sailor program (Liberty program) is open to all active duty military personnel and their guest 18 years or older. The Liberty program accommodates geographic bachelors and unaccompanied service members, from all branches of services. The mission is to enhance the quality of life for these individuals by providing a comprehensive program of social, cultural, recreation, athletic and fitness activities in a safe and healthy environment.

Amenities:
Liberty offers a computer lounge with 19 internet accessible computers, as well as internal WiFi for an easy connect to the web. There is a lounge area with a big screen television that shows movies, games and events daily. Liberty also offers gaming systems and games for use including Xbox, Xbox 360 and PlayStation. There are also two pool tables and a snack bar to grab a drink and chips at great prices for the single sailor!
