Arriving
Updated On: 5/24/2013 11:02:34 AM
Nestled amid the low rolling hills of east central Mississippi lies Naval Air Station Meridian. It is located approximately 15 miles northeast of the city of Meridian between State Highways 39 and 45.
Meridian’s airport is located south of Meridian, approximately 20 miles from the main gate. Amtrak and Greyhound are located downtown in Union Station about the same distance from the base as the airport.
There is no daily bus or shuttle service from the city of Meridian to the naval air station. Taxis charge approximately $20 for the trip out to the base.
Arriving by personal vehicle on I-20/59 puts you right in the middle of Meridian. There are signs posted detailing which exit to take. You’ll end up on State Highway 39 North out of Meridian. Posted signs will direct you off Highway 39 and down the Stennis Drive access road to the main gate.

Welcome Aboard is an indoctrination program designed to orient personnel to relevant services and requirements of NAS Meridian, City of Meridian and Lauderdale County.
Vehicles must be registered with Security (within 30 days of reporting) at the Pass and Tag Office, located at the main gate. Pass and Tag is open Monday through Friday, 0600-1600.
Registration requirements are:
Proof of state registration
Driver’s License
Valid state inspection sticker, if required by the state in which the vehicle is registered
Proof of Insurance

Housing residents must also register pets at Pass and Tag. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required.
If you live in Navy Family Housing, your firearms must be registered with Security, located in Building 423. To complete the process of registering firearms, you first need to call the Ready for Issue Officer at (601) 679-2107 to notify them you are bringing unloaded firearms for registration. Once at the Security Office leave your firearms in your vehicle and go inside to inform the officer who will record the serial numbers.
