WEATHER AND CLIMATE
NAS Fallon offers ideal weather conditions for year-round air operations. Located in the high desert at 3,934 feet above sea level, temperatures in Fallon average about 67 degrees, with 4.88 inches of precipitation annually. Winter low temperatures can reach 0 degrees while summer highs may exceed 100 degrees. The temperature shifts about 30 degrees every day. These seasonal weather conditions make Fallon and the surrounding area ideal for recreational activities throughout the year. Fallon does get some snow; however, the snow generally isn't around more than a day or two.

GETTING TO NAS FALLON
NAS Fallon is located approximately seven miles southeast of the community of Fallon. The main highways passing through the town are U.S. Highways 50 and 95. Both provide easy access to the air station. Simply follow the signs to NAS Fallon off the main roads. Interstate 80 is approximately 30 miles from Fallon and is accessible from either Highway 95 or Alternate 50.

For personnel arriving by air, the Reno/Tahoe International Airport is the closest major airport to Fallon. If you need a ride to the NAS Fallon and you're newly arriving, check with your sponsor for transportation. The Reno/Tahoe International Airport is served by several major airlines. A limited number of Space "A" flights are also available at the base Air Terminal in Hangar Seven.

REPORTING IN
Sailors reporting to NAS Fallon must check in at the NAS Fallon Customer Service Detachment (CSD), located in Building 309, across from the First United Services Credit Union, for processing in. Make sure you bring a copy of your orders! You can expect the check-in process to take several days. Make sure you have contacted your sponsor prior to your arrival.

BASE VEHICLE REGISTRATION
It is mandatory that vehicles be registered on base within 45 days of arrival. Vehicle registration is available in the Pass and Decal Office (Building 418) located just outside the main gate. A valid vehicle registration, driver's license, military ID card and proof of insurance are required to register vehicles. VEHICLES MUST BE PRESENT AT THE PASS AND DECAL OFFICE TO RECEIVE DECALS. Personnel operating a POV that is not registered in their name must obtain a notarized letter of permission from the owner stating they have authorization to operate the vehicle before a temporary pass will be assigned from the Pass and Decal office.
