The Aero Club office is located in Building 153, Area A. Membership is open to active-duty, reserve, retired military, all civilian employees and their family members, Civil Air Patrol members and contractors to Wright-Patterson AFB. The club has a complete training program for obtaining a private or commercial pilot's certificate, multi-engine, instrument, instructor ratings and Airline Transport Pilot. The Aero Club has 14 aircraft.

The Kittyhawk Bowling Center, located in Building 1221, Kittyhawk Center, has 20 AMF automatic pin spotters as well as Cubica Scoring System for leagues and open bowling. A variety of special events and leagues, including youth bowling and glow in the dark bowling are available. The center has a full-line pro shop and snack bar. Bowling is open to all base personnel.

The Arts and Crafts Center is located in Building 95, Area A and consists of a wood hobby shop, frame shop, multi-craft classrooms, graphics shop, silk screening and a resale area. The graphics shop offers custom designed plaques for awards and appreciation. Precision laser engraving and metal plate engraving are offered. Silk-screened T-shirts, specialty designed mugs, hats and other mementos are available. A wide selection of mats and a variety of wood and metal moldings are available in the frame shop as well as a precision computer mat cutter. The wood shop is equipped with industrial floor equipment and hand tools. Wood shop also offers custom shadow boxes, flag cases and many other unique wood crafted items. Specialty classes are offered in basic wood working, framing and matting, stained glass, painting, basket weaving and rubber stamping.
The auto hobby shop is located in Building 1244, Kittyhawk Center. The shop is equipped for tune-ups, wheel balancing and alignment, engine analysis, brake repair and painting. Technical advice is readily available for do-it-your-selfers. The resale car lot is also available through the auto hobby shop. Call (937) 257-3310/6952 for additional information. Rod and Gun Club

Wright-Patterson has an excellent hunting and fishing program available to all base employees, retirees, reserves and family members. Fishing permits may be purchased at the Bass Lake recreation area, (937) 257-2924; Outdoor Recreation, Building 95, Area A; and the Rod and Gun Club, Area A, Building 892. Ohio hunting licenses are required for all hunters on Wright-Patterson AFB property, with the exception of military personnel who are on leave or furlough. Membership in the Base Rod and Gun Club is open to all Wright-Patterson employees, retirees, reserves and their family members. In addition to hunting and fishing activities, the club sponsors skeet and trap programs. Ranges are open for shooting Sunday through Wednesday, with different hours each day. The club also operates a sales room and can do special orders for the membership.

The Prairie Trace Golf Club

Has a nine-hole and an 18-hole course. Located adjacent to the Wright-Patterson Club and Banquet Center and Skeel Avenue, it is open to all civilian and military personnel and their family members. Facilities include driving and practice ranges, clubhouse, snack bar and pro shop.
Sport and Fitness
Wright-Patterson has three fitness centers and a health club.
The sports and fitness program offers activities from self-directed, such as open play basketball, volleyball and racquetball, to instructional classes, such as aerobics, karate and swimming. Team and individual intramural, varsity and higher command competitions are also available. The fitness centers do not offer a towel service, so don't forget to bring your towel.

Located in Building 849, Area A, Dodge Gym offers a variety of fitness activities to include swimming, basketball, weight training, racquetball and a cardio vascular training room. Also included in the facility are men's and women's steam rooms and saunas. A family fitness room is available for those who have kids. A play area is set up in the room away from the equipment so kids cannot get hurt.
Wright Field Fitness Center

Facilities include a weight area, large number of aerobic exercise machines and a ninth-mile rubberized, indoor running track, four racquetball courts, a boxing area, two NCAA size basketball courts which convert to volley-ball and badminton and a wireless entertainment system. Jarvis Gym

Located in Building 1245 in the Kittyhawk Area, the Jarvis Gym is a fully equipped facility that offers a basketball court, cardio vascular and weight training equipment. The Jarvis Gym is also home to all CrossFit Wright-Patt classes in the fully outfitted "CrossFit Box."
The Health Club

Located in Building 262, Area A, The Health Club is a membership operation open to all Wright-Patterson employees. It features free weights, resistance machines and cardio equipment.
U.S. Air Force Marathon

http://www.usafmarathon.com All levels of marathoners from around the world are invited to participate in the annual U.S. Air Force Marathon, which is traditionally held the third Saturday of September at Wright-Patterson AFB.
The course is certified by U.S.A. Track and Field, the governing body of long-distance running in the United States, certification number OH 97034 PR. It is exactly 26 miles, 385 yards. The scenic course passes by historic Huffman Prairie Flying Field, where Orville and Wilbur Wright honed their flying skills beginning in 1904, and the base's flight line, once the site of Wilbur Wright Field established in 1917. Runners also will pass by static aircraft displays along the route.

Wright-Patterson has two indoor recreational lodges for use by base personnel, retirees, reserves and their guests. They include Kittyhawk Lodge and Bass Lake Lodge All lodges have a complete kitchen facilities, restrooms, tables and chairs, plus additional features. Recreational lodges are reserved through Outdoor Recreation.

Outdoor Recreation offers two outdoor pavilions located throughout the base. Bass Lake Playground Pavilion, located within the Bass Lake Recreation Complex, offers covered seating and a grill. It is adjacent to a playground and climate controlled restroom facilities. Diamond 4 Pavilion, located behind the coal plant in Kittyhawk Center, offers covered seating, playground, and seasonal restrooms. Pavilions can be reserved in advance through the Outdoor Recreation.
Bass Lake Recreation Complex

Located around Bass Lake, a 42-acre manmade lake, the recreation complex is open year-round. The Recreation Complex offers camping, fishing, volleyball and horseshoes areas. It also has a boat ramp to allow you to put your personal state licensed water craft onto the lake. Only electric trolling type motors are allowed on the lake, gas engines are not allowed.
The Outpost Paintball Fields

The base has two paintball fields located near the Bass Lake Recreation Complex. The Outpost Paintball Fields offers a wide variety of strategy games and tournaments. The fields are available by reservation only between March and October. Paintball markers, masks and clothing are available at a nominal fee.

Located in Building 95, Area A, the Outdoor Recreation Operation Center offers recreational equipment for a small service charge to all base personnel, retirees, reserves and their family members, 18 years of age or older. Camping, picnic equipment, sporting equipment, outdoor games, campers, bicycles and other recreational supplies are available for rent.
Outdoor Recreation operates a research library where you can plan your next outdoor activity and the staff is readily available to answer your questions about local attractions offering recreational opportunities. The Operations Center also offers a wide variety of trips and classes focused on outdoor recreation opportunities in the local area.
Scouting Activities

Wright-Patterson supports Scout troops, Venture Posts and Cub Packs by offering them meeting and camping space on the base. Prospective scouts and volunteers should contact the Tecumseh Council at (937) 325-6449. The Wright Memorial Trail Committee (P.O. Box 905, Fairborn, OH 45324) supervises hiking and trail facilities in the local area utilized by more than 3,000 scouts annually.
Youth and Scout Camping Area

A primitive camping area is located on the back the back side of Wright-Patterson, approximately one mile from the Bass Lake Recreation Complex. This primitive camping area known at the Youth and Scout Camping Area offers a secure and tranquil area where youth groups can visit the base. This primitive area also offers portable restrooms and a seasonal potable water source. This facility also has a large group gathering area with seating, a large fire pit, stage and backdrop to allow for awards presentations, meetings and entertainment while encamped at Wright-Patterson.

Wright-Patterson is home to a 54-site Recreational Vehicle camping area. This area known as FAMCAMP is located adjacent to the Bass Lake Recreation Complex and is operated year round. This facility offers a variety of RV sites with some offering full electric, water and sewage hook ups. Tent camping is available in this area year round. The FAMCAMP also offers laundry facilities and climate controlled restroom and shower facilities.

Wright-Patterson hosts one indoor and two ¬outdoor pools on base.
Outdoor facilities include Patterson Pool, located behind the Wright-Patterson Club in Area A; and in the Prairies housing development at The Pool at the Prairies, located off of Chapel Drive.
The Indoor Pool is located in Dodge Gym, Building 849, Area A. The Aquatic Department at Wright-Patterson offers swim lessons for all ages and abilities, water aerobics classes, lap swimming, life guarding instruction, CPR and First Aid classes and a Youth and Masters Swim Team.

A four-court, indoor tennis club, located on Skeel Avenue in Building 90, Area A, is available to active-duty and retired military, civilian employees, and their families and guests. The facility, which also houses a pro shop, lounge and locker rooms, is open to members and guests. Court fees vary with the hour of the day. Guests pay an additional fee for the use of the courts and may sign-up on a space available basis. There are two outdoor hard-surfaced courts adjacent to Dodge Gym, Building 849, Area A, where reservations are necessary.

With more than 700 members, the Officers' Wives Club at Wright-Patterson is one of the largest in the world. Luncheons or dinners are held monthly (except in the summer), that feature prominent guests. Newcomers are welcomed monthly at which time they are introduced to the many special interest groups within the club... anything from gourmet cooking to volunteering time as a tour guide at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The OWC also is involved in welfare projects held throughout the year for both local and national causes. Another club open to all military spouses is the Wright-Patterson Spouses in Action Club.

The Base Theater, Building 1239, Kittyhawk Center, seats 977 people. It is open to active duty, retired military members and their families and guests.
National Museum of the USAF

The National Museum of the United States Air Force is recognized as the world's largest and oldest military aviation museum. It is open to the public every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Hours of operation are daily, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no admission or parking charge. A cafe is open for light meals.
The museum exists to inform the public of the service's mission, rich history and evolving capabilities. Among its displays are items of historical and current significance in the field of military aviation relating to the U.S. Air Force. The museum tells an authoritative and illustrated story of flight from the Wright Brothers to the present, featuring more than 400 aerospace vehicles. Nearly 1.2 million visitors annually tour this most popular, free tourist attraction in Ohio. The 500-seat IMAX Theater adds another important dimension to the story of aviation.
