The Airman and Family Readiness Center is the primary focal point for a full range of services, resources and programs that respond to the unique needs of military families. Services are available to all DoD employees (married or single), spouses, family members, retirees and their family members, and Guard and Reserve and their family members when on active duty. The A&FRC provides services for deployments, financial counseling and assistance, spouse employment, transition and relocation assistance, family life development, volunteering, Airman's Attic, Grocery and Personal Care Assistance, and informational and referral services. The center offers direct service or referral to a local agency.

Personal Affairs

The Personal Affairs Section, Building 2, Area A, administers the personal affairs program for the military community at Wright-Patterson. Personal affairs functions include casualty notification and assistance, briefing and individual counseling for retirement. Assistance is available with Survivor's Benefit Plan, estate planning, voting, insurance and Veteran's Assistance benefits.

Wright-Patterson's housing office is located in Building 22, Area A. With 789 newly constructed units completed at Wright-Patterson, this will bring the number of base housing units to 2,012. A majority of the 1,186 units are located in The Prairies at Wright Field, adjacent southeast of Area B. Of these, 382 units will be assigned to officers and 804 units to enlisted personnel.
The Woods at Wright Field, east of Area B, will provide 350 newly renovated, privatized units of both single and duplex quarters, of which 192 are assigned to officers and 158 to enlisted personnel, retirees (military and civilian), DoD civilians, contractors and the general public.
Also in Area A are 102 brick quarters for senior and general officers. Of these, there are 37 three-bedroom single cottages, 10 four-bedroom single quarters located on Yount Drive and 34 duplex quarters for senior officers. Nine single-family dwellings and 12 duplex quarters for general officers are also in this area. To submit advanced applications for housing, members should visit the housing office at their current base for assistance.

Chase Financial has two full-service banking offices and four automatic teller machines located on Wright-Patterson. The Area B banking office is located in Building 16 and the Area A office is located in Building 1250. Both offices have ATMs located just outside their entrances. ATM services include the WrightCheck, MasterMoney Debit/ATM Card and nine on base MAC ATMs located at: Building 262, Wright Patterson Club and Banquet Center (cash only); the Hope Hotel; Building 830 (Medical Center, Area A); Building 16; Building 642 (Hilltop Area); the AMC Complex (cash only); and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (Area B), Building 1 (Area A) and Building 1224 in Kittyhawk Center. They have an additional 14 other MAC ATMs located off base.
Members with a WPCU Debit/ATM card can also use their card in several different states and Key Bank ATMs with no surcharge at any ATM displaying the Alliance One logo. Community and Family Center

The Community and Family Center operates Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, closed.
Located in Area A, Building 230 the Community and Family Center is a one-stop facility for a variety of family programs for all base-eligible patrons and their guests. The community and family center offers various instructional classes to include craft classes, American Red Cross Certified classes and dog obedience classes. The Congressional award program and the youth and family talent show are also run through the Community and Family Center.
Child Development

Four full-day child development centers operate at Wright-Patterson AFB. All centers offer full-day care to base eligible patrons for children 6 weeks to 5 years. Centers also offer hourly care to children 6 months to 12 years. Part-day preschool classes (3 to 5 years) are offered during the school year at most centers.
The New Horizons CDC, Building 1403, offers care in Area A. Wright Field North and Wright Field South CDCs, Building 630, offer care in Area B. The Wright Care CDC offers care in the Prairies housing area.
All centers operate Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are closed on federal holidays. For more information, contact the Child Development Resource and Referral Office.
Family Child Care Program

The administrative office for the family child care program is located in Building 6933, in the Prairies housing area. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The licensed and affiliated homes are located throughout base housing and in the Fairborn, Huber Heights, Riverside, and Beavercreek communities. Located in the Prairies Child and Youth Complex, Building 6933, the Prairies of Wright Field, the youth center is open to dependent youth (5 to 18 years) of all base eligible patrons and their guests. Programs in social, recreational, instructional and athletics are offered. The center has activity rooms, a multipurpose gym, a teen fitness center and teen and preteen clubs. Programs offered include activities from the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and 4-H. Outside facilities include tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, a playground, and baseball/softball fields. A large youth sports program includes soccer, flag football, baseball, softball, basketball and cheerleading. Instructional programs include martial arts, dance, aerobics, gymnastics, piano, computers and crafts. Two school age programs are offered for before-and-after-school (BAS) care, summer camp and evening care. The Prairies School Age Center (SAC) offers BAS care for students in the Mad River School District and the Kittyhawk SAC offers BAS care for the Fairborn Schools. School age hourly care is also offered at both locations and evening care is offered twice monthly at the Prairies SAC.
The youth preteen and teen center, Building 234, Prairies at Wright Field, is open to military and civilian family members 9 through 18 years of age. Programs in social, recreational, instructional and athletics are offered. The center has multi-purpose areas and teen rooms on the second floor. Outside facilities include tennis courts, skate board park, soccer fields, baseball fields and a well-equipped playground.

The Base Library in Building 1226, Kittyhawk Center, is open to military and civilian personnel, retirees and their families. The library is open weekdays (except Monday and holidays), evenings and weekends. Fiction, nonfiction and reference books are available for adults, young adults and children. The library also offers compact discs, videos, DVDs and recorded book on audiocassettes and CD for check out.
Computers with high-speed broad-band Internet access, DVD/CD/VHS-capable listening/viewing stations, a typewriter and microform reader-printer are available for patron use, as are hard copies of general interest periodicals. Online databases (Proquest, Facts-on-File, First Search, Petersons, Janes, InfoTrac, SIRS and SIRS Discoverer) with full-text articles are available on computers in the computer room. A study room, children's room, conference room and seating areas are available for use and enjoyment by patrons.
The base library can provide inter-library loans through contact with other local, regional and federal libraries. Best selling books and other current releases are available through the McNaughton Book Leasing Program. The base library supports Park College, Embry-Riddle, Air War College and Chief of Staff of the Air Force Reading Program through special collections. A new wing commander's reading selections has been added to the collection.
Education and Training Flight

The Education and Training Flight (ETF), located in Building 50, Area B is responsible for developing the Wright-Patterson AFB Workforce for current and future assignments through effective and efficient management of education and training services.
The ETF provides a full range of outstanding E&T services to 17,000 customers in 50 Base organizations and 247 Geographically Separated Units (GSU) in 10 states. Services include Education Advising, Testing, Voluntary Off-Duty Education, Records Management, Education and Training Management System (ETMS) Administration, Formal Schools Training, Enlisted Specialty Training, Developmental Programs, Vendor Training, Distance Learning, Class Management, Facilitated Training and In-House Training.
The Education Services function provides over 500 advising sessions monthly, administers more than 3,000 education and military tests annually and supports 16 on-base educational institutions which offer 29 degree programs.
The Training Management Services function oversees more than 30 military and civilian developmental programs, meets over 7,000 vendor training requirements annually, processes an average of 370 formal school student slots per month and updates an average of 150 training records per month.
The Training Delivery Services function provides distance learning through the Learning Resource Center (LRC) and various other methods, facilitates 13 mandatory courses to include National Security Personnel System (NSPS) and mandatory supervisory training courses, and provides high quality no-cost instruction on 22 courses using the Air Force Knowledge Now (AFKN) Community of Practice (CoP) as a registration tool.
The WPAFB ETF earned the 2006 Nathan Altschuler Award for the best Education and Training Flight in AFMC. Class schedules, course descriptions, the scheduling CoP and a vast range of E&T information can be found on the Education and Training Flight website.
Wright-Patterson Club

The Wright-Patt Club is located in Building 800, Area A, and provides a variety of dining, entertainment and programs. The Wings Grille is newly renovated featuring an "Open Kitchen Concept" complete with a Clay Pizza Oven. The menu features appetizers, pizza, pastas, salads, sandwiches along with steaks and seafood. Wings Grille is open seven days a week.
Rocker Lounge is located downstairs in the main club. It features a game room and Friday night social hour. Pick up a copy of the Wright Times for the latest in programs and events.
BX/Commissary

The base exchange and commissary are in Building 1250 Kittyhawk Center. This modern mall complex houses various concessions including a bank, bakery-deli, ice cream, flower, optical, beauty/barber shops, laundry/dry cleaners and a Country Junction store, as well as the main BX and commissary. There is a food court with Anthony's Pizza, Robin Hood Sandwiches and Burger King in the mall area of the BX.
The BX operates several branch stores, shoppette/gas station, laundry and dry cleaning shops, a GNC healthy center, Home and Garden Center/Class Six the base theater and Einstein Bagel shop at the Hospital. BX purchases are limited to military personnel and persons possessing a DD Form 1173 or other authorized identification. Civilians who are TDY and residing in the VOQ are authorized to shop in the BX, providing their orders are stamped by the VOQ. These purchases are limited to necessities such as toiletries. Commissary privileges are extended to active duty military, retirees, reserve/national guard and their dependents. The commissary offers 51,705 square feet of spacious shopping seven days a week. The commissary accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover and bank debit cards for shopper's convenience.
Pitsenbarger Dining Facility

Pitsenbarger Dining Facility, located in Kitty-hawk Area, Building 1214, serves military personnel over 250,000 meals per year including flight and ground meals. Serving in a cafeteria-style format, the dining facility is open seven days a week serving three meals per day. Pitsenbarger provides a comfortable restaurant-type atmosphere for diners. Health conscious patrons can take advantage of the Check-It-Out program. Check-It-Out is a planned nutrition program that encourages healthier preparation of foods and healthier choices of food items offered. Steam table and line signs label various entrees and side dishes with their caloric value and fat content.

The base restaurant system operates two full service restaurants, nine canteens, one sales store, a party room at Twin Base Golf Club for catered events and 500 vending machines. Full service restaurants are located in Air Force Materiel Command headquarters, Building 262 (Area A) and Building 11 (Area B). Both serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. Canteens are open Monday through Friday at various times except for Canteen 20 at Twin Base Golf Club and Canteen 5 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force which are open seven days a week.

A wide and exciting range of chapel programs and activities await you at Wright-Patterson. The programs are designed to meet the needs of all ages and offer many opportunities for worship, religious education, fellowship and other means of spiritual growth.

There are several volunteer programs including the American Red Cross, Retiree Activities Program, Chapel Volunteers, Masonic Services Association and People and Animals Working and Sharing.
These volunteers provide thousands of hours of service to the military family. Volunteers work in almost every area of the medical center. Many also provide assistance and/or information on a variety of issues that affect retirees (e.g. legal, pay, Space A, pharmacy). The Wright-Patterson medical center's compassionate care facilities offer low-cost, comfortable lodging where families can be together in times of crisis. Each facility offers a quality "home-away-from-home" which is staffed by a full-time house ¬manager and a team of trained and sensitive volunteers. The staff frequently deals with the unique concerns of family members confronted with a critical illness.

The 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office supports the 88th Air Base Wing commander as well as Aeronautical Systems Center, Air Force Research Laboratory and Air Force Security Assistance Center commanders by providing counsel and guidance about the information environment, enhancing airman morale and readiness, gaining and maintaining public support for military activities, and informing the public about what Wright-Patterson AFB is doing. Public Affairs accomplishes this through its Current Operations, Civic Outreach, Plans and Policy, and Security and Policy Review programs.
Public Affairs, as the official media relations agency for the base, ensures a consistent, accurate flow of information to the public through outside news media such as newspapers, radio and television stations. It is also responsible for The Skywrighter, the base newspaper. The Skywrighter has one of the largest circulations in the Air Force. It is published every Friday and is also available online at http://www.sky wrighter.com. The office also manages external and internal web pages and the Commander's Access Channel (Channel 6 on KAS Cable, 19 on Time Warner CATV), a 24-hour resource for Wright-Patterson command information.
The Civic Outreach program is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with the communities surrounding the base as well as interfacing with community and civic organizations such as the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association, Air Force Association, chambers of commerce, and area service clubs. Community Outreach is also responsible for organizing base tours supporting Air Force recruiting efforts and overseeing the Wright-Patterson Speaker's Bureau. Volunteers are always welcome.
