Armed Services YMCA

The Whidbey Island Branch of the Armed Services YMCA of the USA serves the local military and civilian communities with a full-service Child Development Center, including a pre-school and school age programs, plus an all-day kindergarten as appropriate for children from 30 months through 12 years. Families and children enjoy the quality curriculum and safe learning environment.

CADA
Citizens Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse (CADA) provides emergency and follow-up assistance to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
CADA offers shelter, transportation, advocacy-based counseling, community education prevention programs and women's and children's support groups. Offices open weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Compass Health, Whidbey Island
Compass Health (formerly Island Mental Health/CMHS) offers comprehensive community-based mental health services, such as adult, adolescent and child psychiatric services; outpatient counseling and case management services; vocational, residential and crisis respite services; and crisis response services.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV)

DAV is located in Building 13 on the Seaplane Base. It is a nonprofit association totally funded by dues and contributions that focuses strictly on serving veterans and seeing that their families receive earned benefits. The local DAV provides a van service to transport veterans to the VA Hospital in Seattle for medical appointments at no cost to the veteran.
Dispute Resolution Center of

Mediation is fast, low cost, confidential and successful; eight out of 10 settle. Maternity Support Services (MSS)

MSS is located in Building 13 of the Seaplane Base and is a preventive health service that supplements medical coverage for Medicaid eligible women who are pregnant or within 60 days post-pregnancy. The goal of MSS is to provide services as early in a pregnancy as possible in an effort to promote positive pregnancy and parenting outcomes. Services include assessment, health education, intervention and counseling offered by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and paraprofessionals who work closely with the woman to provide a comprehensive plan of care.

New Leaf is a vocational rehabilitation program and affirmative industry for adults with disabilities. They provide training and employment in janitorial services, grounds maintenance, Commissary shelf stocking and ordering. This private, nonprofit community action agency offers to help people of low-to-moderate income in Island County develop and maintain self-reliance.
They offer child care referral and vouchers, community resource referrals, education consultation and liaison, low-income energy assistance, food stamp outreach, emergency housing assistance, gas vouchers, half-price dump pass and low-income housing referral.
Families may call to have their names added to a list to receive such household items as beds and couches. Donations of such items are always welcome.

Pregnancy Care Clinic

This nonprofit, locally governed organization brings a non-denominational Christian ministry to women who have unplanned pregnancies.
Services are free and confidential, and include pregnancy tests, education on options, housing, classes, maternity clothing and furnishings, referrals and counseling. They also offer newborn layettes, baby cereal and food, baby formula and shepherding homes for pregnant women without a place to live.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hotline counselors are available on most nights after hours. It's located at 670 SE Midway Blvd., Oak Harbor, WA 98277.
Senior Services of Island County

This program serves seniors and disabled citizens by providing group and home-delivered meals, day care, transportation, housing, information and assistance, employment, senior activities and several other support services.
Hours are weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome to deliver Meals on Wheels and transport seniors to medical appointments.

Toddler Learning Center

Toddler Learning Center is a private, nonprofit agency that provides speech therapy, occupational therapy, special classes and parent support for children from birth to 36 months old who have delayed development.

Women, Infants & Children (WIC)

The WIC office is located in Building 13 of the Seaplane Base. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants and children up to age 5 can get free, nutritious food and health information at the Women, Infants and Children Clinic. If you have a valid military ID card and meet income guidelines, you or your child may qualify for this free service. WIC provides monthly checks to buy such foods as milk, juice, eggs, peanut butter, dry beans and cereal. Single fathers are also welcome to use this program to supplement their children's nutrition.
