Aero Club
The club's fleet consists of Cessna 152, 172, Arrow III single engine complex, Symphony, a Piper Warrior, as well as a twin engine Piper Seminole. All are available for local or cross-country flights and TDY flights. The Aero Club's flight school is FAA Part 141 certified. Programs range from Private Pilot to Airline Transport Pilot. A computerized trainer is also available for training and keeping pilots proficient under Instrument Flight Rules. The club is a Computer Assisted Testing Service facility and can facilitate FAA Written Exams and more. The club offers Introductory Flights for $78, a great way to get a feel of the Aero Club program in addition to getting an aerial view of the surrounding areas. Located in Bldg. 3183 at 3209 East Dr., the Aero Club offers the opportunity to see what the area has to offer from the pilot's point of view. Air Travel
The base passenger terminal provides all information for space-available travel. Customers may obtain recorded flight information by calling 256-1854. Questions regarding space available travel can be answered by calling 256-3017. Hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
WingGate Travel, operated by civilian ticket agents, provides customer information and tickets for official travel only. Customer Service hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and ticketing hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. WingGate can be reached at 744-1883. For TDY tickets call 256-5397.
The passenger section takes care of all permanent change of station and international temporary duty flight arrangements. Ticketing hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (except Federal holidays).
The base passenger terminal facility, located in Bldg. P-8 on the corner of Heritage Drive and Hangar Road is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to reopen in the fall of 2011. During the renovation period, the passenger terminal facility will relocate to Bldg. 1810, the O'Fallon Dormitory, at 419 West Dr.
Airman and Family Readiness Center
The Airman and Family Readiness Center is a service organization for servicemembers and their families and as the base's focal point for family matters. The A&FRC assists individuals and families with adapting to the changes and demands of military life. The focus is on readiness in every service area to include relocation, military child education, support to families with special needs, transition, spouse employment, personal and family readiness, personal and work life, personal financial readiness, Air Force Aid, and casualty affairs.
Educational workshops and seminars are offered for many service areas. Relocation assistance service provides information about Scott AFB, the local area and bases all over the world. Newly arrived personnel are required to attend the weekly Newcomer's Orientation (one-stop in-processing) held at the A&FRC. Spouses are encouraged to attend Team Scott Happy Landings spouses' orientation designed to acclimate spouses to the base and community. The Loan Closet is available to lend kitchen items, small appliances, furniture and various electronic items to military and civilian members on TDY or PCS orders. Information about schooling options and assistance with meeting special services needs for school-aged children, is available by contacting the school liaison officer at 256-9595.
Additional support is available to families with special needs through the Exceptional Family Member Program-Family Support. EFMP-FS includes support, education, information and referral to non-medical community and on-base resources. The EFMP-FS Coordinator can be reached at 256-8668.
Transition Assistance Services provides services and benefits to equip separating and retiring military and civilian personnel and their families with the skills and knowledge for reentry into the private sector. The Discovery Center offers services and resources to assist with career development, job searches and local job market information. Spouse employment information and announcements, resume and skill development and career exploration tools are available to help spouses conduct successful job searches. Scott boasts an active unit-based Key Spouse network of spouses trained and ready to meet the needs of families during all types of mission-related family separations. Personal Financial Readiness Services offers information, education and personal financial counseling. Casualty Assistance Services assists retiring AF members with Survivor Benefit Plan information. Assistance is also provided to active duty, retirees and dependents on any benefits in the event of the loss of a loved one.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is a trusted, global movement of people who provide training, assistance, relief and help others to avoid and cope with disasters and other emergencies. Service to military families is an integral part of the Red Cross mission. Services at Scott include 24-hour emergency communications between military members and their families separated by distance. Additionally, training is available through disaster education classes and health and safety courses including Adult and Infant/Child CPR, first aid, Lifeguarding, Water Safety, Babysitting and Automatic External Defibrillator. Volunteers play a key role in delivering Red Cross services. As a result, the scope of volunteer opportunities at Red Cross is almost endless. Volunteers may utilize job skills they already have or learn something completely new.
Volunteers can be found throughout the base working in the main office, at the 375th Medical Group, at the swimming pool, instructing courses and at monthly blood drives. Throughout the St. Louis Area chapter, base personnel have the opportunity to serve the Red Cross throughout the St. Louis metro area. Additionally, the American Red Cross offers a Summer Youth Program for teens and a free dental assistant training program. Arts and Crafts Center
The Arts and Crafts Center, located in Bldg. 1989 on Ward Drive, features a wood shop, frame shop, award shop, auto repair facility and a 24-hour, 4-bay car wash. The award shop can provide you with an appropriate plaque or other item suitable for awards, retirements, or special occasions. The Arts and Crafts Center also offers inked stamps for use at home or in the office.
The wood shop specializes in custom flag cases and shadow boxes with a variety of styles and woods to choose from. The custom frame shop offers a large selection of framing and matting. The auto hobby shop offers flat stalls, lifts, a paint booth, a welding room, and various services such as air conditioning, radiator and transmission flushes and wheel alignments. Our highly trained staff is available to offer advice on many repair problems.
The car wash is open 24-hours a day and features wand bays with foaming brushes and vacuums. The car wash is located directly behind the Arts and Crafts Center. The Arts and Crafts Center also provides dance, painting, framing, pottery, auto maintenance, sewing, foreign language, guitar and cooking classes. Base Chapels
Chapel 1 (Bldg. 1620) is located on Ward Drive. It has a 500-seat sanctuary and houses the office of the wing chaplain, superintendent, senior Protestant and Catholic chaplains and support personnel. Chapel 2 (Bldg. 5713) is located on Golf Course Road Each chapel offers a multi-purpose annex for religious education classes, fellowship, scripture studies and a variety of small group functions.
Bread Works
Bread Works Buffet and Gourmet Sandwiches, located in the Scott Club, offers Scott personnel an array of paninis, oven toasted sandwiches and subs all made on freshly baked European-style breads. Cardinal Creek Golf Course
This par 72, 18-hole course, located on the east end of the flightline, features beautifully-landscaped lawns, well-maintained fairways, practice putting and chipping greens, and a driving range. Golf clubs, lockers and electric carts are among the variety of items available for rent. The pro shop is well stocked with quality apparel and an extensive line of golfing equipment. Minor club repair, to include re-gripping and custom fitting are also offered.
The Snack Bar and Lounge is open year-round offering cafeteria style breakfast and lunch. The main dining area and upstairs meeting room, with adjoining deck, are available for catered functions. Professional Golf Association professionals are available for individual lessons and golf clinics to include the Air Force Kids Golf and Link Up 2 Golf programs. Child Development Program
Scott's Child Development Program offers weekly and hourly care for children ages 6 weeks to school age in either of the two centers. The Scott Child Development Program is accredited by the National Academy of Education for Young Children and certified by the Air Force Child Development Program. These organizations verify that children enrolled in these programs are receiving quality child care at reasonable rates with nutritious meals and appropriate activities. Scott also has an extensive Family Child Care program that provides care options for families desiring a home environment. Each FCC home provider is trained by FCC coordinators prior to being allowed to provide care. All FCC homes are licensed and must meet the standards established by the Air Force. Commissary
With five Self Check-Out registers, the 51,374 square-foot commissary offers a wide variety of specialty and popular foods including sushi. The Meat and Produce departments are spacious and modern. Hot food and rotisserie chickens are specialties in the delicatessen, and the fresh bakery opens at 7 a.m., and features breakfast sandwiches as well as fresh baked goodies. The commissary also serves lunch at the deli (hot soups, ready or specialty sandwiches as well as other lunchtime buys). The SCOs and two Express lanes accommodate military personnel in uniform; they have priority Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. The Scott AFB Commissary is located at 203 W. Winters St., Bldg. 1980. Customer Service can be reached at 256-5711. Promotional items are continuously displayed with special theme sales bi-weekly. The Commissary ranks No. 1 for non-pay benefits with military patrons and still offers overall savings of more than 32 percent compared to retail stores. Dining Facility
The Nightingale Inn Dining Facility is located in Bldg. 1800 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday. On weekends and holidays, brunch and supper are served. Tasty, nutritious food is served to all enlisted personnel and those on temporary duty status to Scott. Permanent party officers are not authorized to use the facility. Retirees are authorized to use the dining facility, for dine in only during breakfast and dinner, daily.
The Flight Kitchen provides flight meals for those departing Scott. Orders can be placed at the passenger terminal when checking in. Ground meals are available for those unable to attend meals at the dining facility due to mission requirements.
Additionally, the Grab 'N Go serves daily, 6 to 8 p.m., providing quality nutritious meals to authorized customers on the go. A separate entrance is located on the North Side of the building. For more information, call 256-2909.
Education and Training Center
Education and Training Center personnel manage and administer a multitude of base-wide programs, to include the voluntary education services, on-thejob training, formal military training, civilian training, professional military education, ancillary training, voluntary education testing and military testing programs.
The E&TC provides a full range of academic support and guidance services; additionally, five schools offer 19 academic degree programs at the E&TC. On-base schools include Southwestern Illinois College, McKendree University, Park University, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Webster University. Programs are offered at the associate, baccalaureate and graduate levels.
The Voluntary Education Test Examiner administers a diverse range of academic and military specific exams. Distance learning, job site training, career development course, PME, placement and certification exams are just a few examples. SWIC administers computer-based college level exams (CLEP & DSST), through an on-base national test center.
The Base Training Office manages the mandatory OJT, formal military training, civilian training, in-residence PME, and ancillary training programs, including identification, monitoring, and tracking of base-wide requirements. The Military Testing Office provides the scheduling and administration for the base-level weighted airman promotions system and other military specific examination programs. Enlisted Spouses' Club
The Enlisted Spouses' Club is open to spouses of enlisted members, current or retired, and civilians (GS-9 and below) from active duty, Reserve or Guard ESC members serve on advisory boards for the Base Exchange, Commissary, Red Cross, Scott Club and Medical Center. Members also donate their time and talents to the Red Cross, the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Family Services, Thrift Shop and Airman's Attic. The Exchange
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Scott is staffed by more than 300 highly-motivated people, many of whom are family members of servicemembers. The Exchange complex is a 119,811 square foot facility located next to the Commissary. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Exchange hosts a full food court to including Anthony's Pizza, Robin Hood, Taco Bell, Charley's and Church's Chicken.
The complex provides specialty shops operated by several vendors including "roving" concessions, a coffee shop, alterations and dry cleaning, optical shop, barber and beauty shops, florist, and a nail salon.
The Exchange Shoppette offers ready-to-eat food and beverages, fuel pumps, movie rental, Firestone Auto Care Center, Snack Avenue and Class Six store. The Shoppette is located at W. Birchard Street and Ward Drive. Additionally, The Exchange operates a Burger King located at W. Birchard Street and Martin Street.
The Global Reach Grill, located in the Air Mobility Command Headquarters, offers breakfast and lunch and includes menu items from Anthony's Pizza and American Eatery. This facility is undergoing a renovation and is scheduled to reopen in Spring 2011. An American Eatery food concept is located in the Air Force Network Integration Center.
The Exchange also provides oversight for Joe's Asian Cuisine, which provides Chinese and Filipino cuisine, in the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization building. Pickup and delivery is available.
A Military ID card is not required to purchase single-serving food items the Shoppette or at any Exchange food facility.

The AAFES is a joint command and is directed by a Board of Directors which is responsible to the Secretaries of the Army and the Air Force through the Service Chiefs of Staff. The Exchange's mission is to provide authorized patrons with merchandise and services as well as to generate non-appropriated fund earnings as a supplemental source of funding for military Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs.
Fitness Centers
The Fitness Center, located in Bldg. P-6, and the James Sports Center, located in Bldg. 1987, offer Team Scott a variety of fitness equipment and programs to maintain and meet fitness goals. The Fitness Center boasts a wide variety of training equipment including free weights, weight machines, as well as cardiovascular exercise equipment, including several models of stationary cycles, stair-climbers, treadmills and more.
If working out on equipment is not your style, try an aerobics class or walk or jog the three-lane indoor track. After exercising, relax in the co-ed sauna. Locker rooms are complete with showers and daily use lockers.
The Fitness Center also offers on-going programs to include special events and runs. Additionally, there is a 6.5-mile jogging path that starts at the Fitness Center and goes around the flight line. For more information about the Fitness Center, call 256-1218.
The James Sports Center provides intramural and recreational sports for men and women. The facility includes a basketball and volleyball court, racquetball courts, cardiovascular equipment and a full line of Hammer Strength training machines and free weights equipment.
The James Sports Center boasts a family cardio room with indoor playground for parents of children ages 6 weeks to 12, men's and women's locker rooms and a co-ed sauna. Health and Wellness Center
The Health and Wellness Center is located in the Fitness Center and is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The HAWC's mission is to promote physical activity, optimal nutrition, healthy weight and tobacco cessation within the Scott community. The HAWC offers a variety of free classes and services available to all active duty, retirees, dependents and DoD civilians.
The HAWC hosts lecture and fitness clinics for those looking for improved fitness test scores. Be Well: Running teaches strategies for improving 1.5 mile run times. Be Well: Strength Training discusses proper lifting techniques for muscular strength and endurance as well as ways to improve push-ups and sit-ups. These classes are open to everyone. Additionally, the HAWC hosts a six-week Running Clinic and four-week Strength Training Clinic which are hands-on programs for active duty with the HAWC Fitness Staff. HAWC nutrition courses provide sensible, well-balanced dietary advice centered on portion control and healthy choices. Be Well: Healthy Weight emphasizes healthy eating patterns using My Pyramid. A four-week Weight Loss clinic focused physical activity and lifestyle management is also taught by the HAWC dietitian.
The Tobacco Cessation Program includes three programs: a classroom support group, online program and telephone quit-line. Fresh Start is a four-week course with new classes beginning monthly. Orientations for the online and telephone programs are held every week. Medications are provided as a part of all three programs to TRICARE beneficiaries.
Appointments for body mass measurements are available for those interested in determining their current fat-lean weight configuration. The HAWC also has 15-minutes aqua massages. For more information or to enroll in a program, call 256-7139.
Information, Tickets and Travel
The Information, Tickets and Travel office is a full service travel agency located in Bldg. 1650. ITT offers vacation theme park tickets, including Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Studios and SeaWorld at a surprisingly large discount as well as tickets to local attractions including Six Flags, the City Museum, Wehrenberg, Raging Rivers, Holiday World, Silver Dollar City and White Water.
ITT participates in the Military Ticket Voucher Program to extend savings for a wide array of hotels, attractions and shows in the Branson, Mo. area and throughout the U.S.
Other event tickets include Fox Theatre (Broadway Series and Off Broadway Series only), NASCAR, Blues hockey games, Rams football games and family events at the Scott Trade Center. Entertainment coupon books are available from August to December.

Library
The Base Library's mission is to meet the educational, organizational and recreational requirements of the base community and always encourages general browsing.
With a collection of more than 50,000 titles, the library's professional and friendly staff can assist with information needs from reference questions to the selection of current best sellers. Additionally, the library has collections of audio books on CD and MP3, Playaways, DVDs and music CDs. Also accessible are more than 100 periodicals and newspapers, including popular business and professional materials. The library's Integrated Library System allows patrons to search the collection by author, title or subject in the online catalog. This system provides access to the collections of other libraries for expedient interlibrary loans.
The library supports the Professional Military Reading Program, professional military educational curriculums and college classes offered on base. Instructional and recreational programming for adults is also available.
Our children's room houses more than 7,000 books and movies. Stop by and watch our train as it travels overhead. Programming for children includes pre-school story times, summer reading program, family story events and after school activities.
In the computer lab, personal computers are provided for word processing, PowerPoint and spreadsheets. Internet access is available for e-mail and access to many research databases. Other services include laser printers, a scanner, a photocopier and wireless Internet access. The Library is located in Bldg. 1940. For more information, call 256-5100.
Loan Closet
All personnel arriving at Scott are invited to come to Family Services. Volunteers are available to assist Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (excluding Federal holidays) with base maps and other useful information for newcomers.
As household goods are sometimes delayed in shipment, the Loan Closet has a supply of essential cooking and eating utensils and small electrical appliances for short-term loan in order to make the transition to Scott smoother. Irons, ironing boards, pack 'n' plays, high chairs, flip-out mats and air beds for sleeping, tables and chairs may also be borrowed. Military members should bring a copy of their PCS or TDY orders to borrow items.
Airman and Family Readiness Center volunteers also sponsor the Operation Stork program that provides a free layette to include a hand crocheted blanket and other infant items to all personnel having their first baby while stationed at Scott. Mail
The Postal Service Center and U.S. Postal Service are located in Bldg. 1650.
The PSC, open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 2 p.m., provides services to all military members living in the base dormitories, on TDY and new arrivals in temporary housing status who have no other means of receiving personal mail. A branch office of the Belleville USPS provides postal services for military and civilians, including box rentals, money orders, stamps and delivery of personal mail to base housing residents. The Post Office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 256-5942.
Regardless of rank or housing assignment, all incoming personnel are requested to in-process through the PSC to ensure any mail that has been held there is received.
Officer's Spouses' Club
Scott has an active Officer's Spouses' Club with more than 260 members. There are several special activities available to members throughout the year. The club's newsletter, the Contact, informs membership of OSC, base and local happenings. It can be found at the Thrift Shop or the Scott Club. The OSC provides many volunteer opportunities, sponsors many projects throughout the year and has a thriving academic scholarship program for local schools.
Membership functions are held the second Wednesday of each month, the time and place of which varies. Functions are for members only; however, non-members may attend once. Interested spouses may apply for membership at the Scott Club. For more information, visit www.scottosc.com.
Outdoor Recreation
Outdoor Recreation, located in Bldg. 3176 on East Drive, offers a wide variety of recreational services and programs for leisure time enjoyment.
The equipment rental program includes everything from camping, sports, garden and party equipment to boats, power tools, travel trailers and bouncy castles. Those holding government identification cards are eligible to rent these items. A nominal fee is charged for all rented equipment.
ODR's exciting year-round adventure program offers family fun for all ages and includes caving, fishing, pheasant hunting, backpacking, rock climbing, hiking, camping and more. Unique local excursions such as bald eagle watching, scuba and sky diving, Hidden Valley skiing or extended weekend trips to the Wisconsin Dells are also available.
ODR also offers an aquatics program that includes three swimming pools, swim lessons available for all ages, and the Scott Sharks swim team where children can make new friends just by joining. ODR hosts a variety of events throughout the year including an Open House, Dive-In Family Movie Swim Party, Pooch Pool Party, Fall Festival and more.
Additionally, ODR offers an outdoor paintball area located near Scott Lake which is available for open and private games.

Pronto's Pizza
Pronto's Pizza, located in Bldg. 1930 on the corner on Martin and Ward Street, specializes in delicious pizzas, salads and submarine specialty sandwiches. The restaurant also features a breakfast menu including breakfast-style pizzas, pastries and Starbucks Coffee. A lunch buffet featuring pizza, salad and drinks is available every Tuesday and Thursday.

Regions Bank
Regions Bank is located at 406 Ward Dr. next to the Shoppette and offers an array of products and services ranging from mortgage loans to financial planning.
Regions Bank provides access to a variety of banking services 24 hours a day, seven days a week online. From their website, customers can view account balances for checking, savings, CDs, IRAs and loans. Customers may also transfer funds, pay bills, review electronic statements, research detailed account history, view check images and much more.

Retiree Activities
The Retiree Activities Office serves as a liaison between base functions and roughly 17,000 military retirees in the Scott area. The RAO publishes a quarterly Retiree Report Newsletter and coordinates retiree activities. Each fall the 375th Air Mobility Wing Commander hosts a Retiree Appreciation Day. Active duty and retired volunteers are trained to provide information on current Air Force and Scott events, and help retirees find the offices and facilities to answer their questions and respond to their needs. The Rod and Gun Club
The Rod and Gun Club, located in Bldg. 3165 on South Drive, across from Outdoor Recreation, provides three skeet ranges, two American and one international trap, and a resale shop furnishing a variety of shooting supplies, with the guaranteed best prices in the surrounding area.
The club operation has two voice-activated target release control systems for unaccompanied shooting, making skeet and trap shooting an "anytime" sport. A single shooter coordinated system and a 5-shooter wireless system is also available for use by larger groups.
The club hosts 3 major affiliated tournaments each year, 10 monthly fun shoots and two seasonal turkey/meat shoots. Spring and fall skeet leagues with eight teams of five are also available. The teams are highly competitive, and an effective way for the military member to keep his or her eye on the target.
The Rod and Gun Club has a Federal Firearms License and guns purchased from any vendor can be shipped to the club. An archery range is also available for club members. All ranges are lighted for late evening shooting year round.
The Rod and Gun Club can provide loaner guns for new shooters to use and extra ammo. Youth and ladies' models are available, too. For more information, call 256-2052.
Schools
There are many public and private schools in the local area serving federally-connected children of Scott personnel. Children of sponsors who live on base attend Mascoutah District 19 schools. Both on- and off-base, your child's school will be determined by where you live. Information about area schools is available through the Scott Public website by selecting "Newcomers" under the Library tab at the top. There are many unique issues for federally-connected students transitioning to new schools. To make an informed decision, choose a home within the boundaries of a school district that will support your child's academic and psychosocial emotional needs. Once you have secured a place to live, visit the homepage of your school to find out starting dates, events, vacations and more. Be aware of two military-specific school code allowances:
1) If you live in temporary quarters and have proof that you will live in a particular school district within 60 days, your child may attend school in that school 2) If you live off base and must move on base due to military orders, your child may continue to go to school in your original school district for the duration of those orders. Scott Club
The Scott Club provides a place for enlisted members and officers to unwind while enjoying great food and entertainment for breakfast, lunch, dinner or social hours. Enlisted and officer lounges are available with entertainment provided. Special functions such as squadron parties, retirements and wedding receptions may be scheduled through the professional catering department.
At the end of every week, a superb social hour is featured during "Freedom Friday" and includes complimentary appetizers for club members, along with drink specials. The Club's famous brunch is served every Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with special brunches being served on Easter, Mother's and Father's Days. Tasty specialty dinners are also served every month, each one with its own theme and specially designed menu. Along with discounted dinner prices and complimentary appetizers on Fridays, club members also get their own special quarterly dinner night with great food, prizes and games for children.
The club also offers special events throughout the year to including $25,000 Club Scholarship programs, Football Frenzy, a Valentine's Day Dance and celebrity visits. The Club calendar is constantly updated to ensure the best in fun and entertainment for Scott customers.

Scott Credit Union is a not-for-profit, full-service financial institution owned and operated by its members. Services offered include, but are not limited to savings and checking accounts; individual retirement accounts; share certificates; money market accounts; vehicle and signature loans, mortgages and home equity loans; and credit services.

Scott Lake
The Scott Lake recreation area includes pavilions, tables and barbecue grills and offers ample opportunities for fishing, hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. The lake is stocked annually with perch, catfish, crappie and bluegill. Canoes are available for rent during the summer months through Recreation Equipment Rental. Scott Lake Recreation area hours are from dawn to dusk. This beautiful man-made lake is popular with base residents and Fam Camp visitors. Stars and Strikes Bowling Center
The Stars and Strikes Bowling Center, located in Bldg. 1934, features 24 lanes, automatic scoring and pin spotter systems, a pro-shop equipped to care for all bowling needs, and great birthday and group event packages. Individual and group lessons are available through the Hook Up 2 Bowling program. A balance of open bowling, organized leagues, tournaments and youth leagues make the center entertaining for the entire family. The American Bowling Congress sanctions both the leagues and lanes. The Bowling Center Grille provides fast, quality sandwiches, salads, soups, hamburgers and other delicious items for sit-down dining or phone-in and take-out orders. Swimming Pools
Base pools are operated by Outdoor Recreation and are open between Memorial and Labor Day weekends for all Scott personnel, retirees, family members and guests. Qualified water safety instructors also offer group swim lessons throughout the summer.
The Fitness Center pool, located at Bldg. 42, features adult lap swim on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., all day recreational swim on the weekends, and features a baby pool.
The Essex pool, located near the Essex House, Bldg. 155, is open for recreational swim seven days a week from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty to ensure the safety of all swimmers.
The James Sports Center pool, located at Bldg. 1987, is available only for swim team and youth center events.

Theater
Recent and award-winning motion pictures are featured at the base theater. Military personnel may bring one guest and must present an identification card when purchasing tickets. A snack bar provides refreshments for patrons.
The air conditioned facility has showings Friday through Sunday starting at 6:30 p.m. All matinee shows begin at 4 p.m. and late shows begin at 9 p.m. when scheduled.

Thrift Shop
A wide range of low-cost items, including clothing, furniture, recreational equipment and toys are available through the Thrift Shop, located in Bldg. 700. These items are sold on consignment from servicemembers, retired members and their families.
Operated by The Consignor Thrift Shop Committee, shop volunteers come from the Officers' and Enlisted Spouses' Clubs, and retired members. All proceeds go to worthy activities both on- and off-base, through the Welfare Committees of these clubs.
Consignment hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. Military in uniform can consign on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon.
Sales hours are Tuesday through Friday and the first and third Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shop is closed on federal holidays. For more information, call 744-9441.
Veterinary Clinic
The Veterinary Clinic, located in Bldg. 856 on South Drive, provides limited health care for Scott family pets. Although the clinic is not able to treat family pets in need of emergency care or surgery, the outpatient services include vaccinations against rabies, distemper and other viral diseases affecting cats and dogs.
Clinic personnel also treat external and internal parasites, local infections and offer fecal and heartworm testing. De-worming, health certificates, general exams and consultations are also available.
The clinic carries a limited supply of over-the-counter pet care products including shampoos, foods, vitamins and dental supplies. Appointments are scheduled two weeks in advance. The clinic charges a reduced fee for services offered and products that are purchased. For more information or to make an appointment, call 746-2168.
Youth Programs
The Youth Center is located in Bldg. 4780 at 4691 Patriots Dr., across from Scott Elementary, and offers a broad range of activities, both directed and self-directed, for ages 5 to 18.
The center provides for a wide variety of interests including tae kwon do, ballet, tap, gymnastics, piano lessons, sports and fitness, open recreation, and many special events. The sports program includes T-Ball, baseball, softball, soccer, basketball and gym hockey. Clinics and classes are held for volunteer coaches and officials. Special activities include dances, youth, teen and family talent shows, children's theater, night hoops and many others. Open recreation is available for youth and teens Monday through Friday.
Child care for children ages 5 to 12 is provided through a Summer Fun Program and Before-and- After School Program on a pay-by-the-week-basis. For more information, call 744-9862
