MISSION
The 45th Space Wing's mission, as the world's premier gateway to space, is to deliver assured space launch, range and combat capabilities for the nation.

ASSOCIATE UNITS
45TH SPACE WING STAFF AGENCIES
Continue to be a top command and control (C2) organization in AFSPC, providing incomparable service and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of space launch operations and maintenance.

Public Affairs (45SW/PA)

The PA staff operates as the wing commander's liaison with the internal Patrick AFB/Cape Canaveral Air Force Station communities, the communities surrounding both installations and the media.

Military Equal Opportunity (45 SW/EO)

The Equal Opportunity staff provides training, conducts informal inquiries, coordinates complaint investigations and conducts mediation of workplace disputes in the civilian workforce. They also provide human relations training, guidance in formal and informal equal opportunity and treatment complaints processing, conduct complaint clarifications, mediate complaints, perform wing climate assessments and provide awareness training on subjects relating to human relations (i.e., cultural diversity, sexual harassment and team building.)

Retiree Activities Office (45 SW/RAO)

The RAO serves retirees of all branches of the armed forces. The office's military retiree volunteers work with retirees of all services and all ranks. The volunteers are trained to handle questions concerning pay issues, legal services, Social Security benefits, survivor benefits or any other issue affecting retirees.

Plans & Programs (45 XP/JX)

The Planning Office (XPE) hosts a wide variety of functions designed to synchronize wing activities. This office serves as the wing focal point for space and range policy, beddown of new activities/missions on 45th Space Wing property, mission agreements, wing operation plans (OPLANS), wing implementation plans (I-Plans), federal and state relationships, the 45th Space Wing launch forecast and the wing strategic plan.

45 SW/XPI provides plans, policy and guidance that allow the 45th Space Wing to establish, maintain and conduct effective liaison with foreign governments in support of the 45th Space Wing's operations. Countries involved are Ascension, Antigua, and Argentina. Additionally, this office is responsible for balancing protection of sensitive military information with international cooperative initiatives to ensure compliance with overall national policy and international agreements. This office also oversees the 45th Space Wing arms control treaty compliance plans, policy and funding. The Program Requirements Office (XPR) is the front door to the Eastern Range for new customers, providing planning oversight for launch vehicle, spacecraft and test programs. The office is comprised of senior engineers who have intimate knowledge of the range, its policies and procedures.

Ground Safety Office (45 SW/SEG)
The 45th SW Ground Safety Office provides safety oversight for Air Force personnel and expertise pertaining to Air Force Occupational Safety and Health. The Ground Safety office also oversees the Operational Risk Management (ORM) program, and investigates ground mishaps.

Aircraft Flight Safety Office (45 SW/SEF)
The mission of this office is to protect aircrews, personnel and Air Force assets at the three airfields and downrange locations operated by the 45th SW. This office also supports mishap preparedness for aviation and space mishaps.

Weapons/Explosive Safety
Office (45 SW/SEW)
The 45 SW/SEW coordinates weapons (explosives) safety and implements the explosive mishap prevention program for Cape Canaveral AFS and Patrick AFB. The office also coordinates and reviews all explosive siting and licensing of explosives storage areas and operating locations as well as explosives lesson plans, checklists and operating procedures. Additionally it monitors and performs periodic explosive safety inspections and ensures compliance with Department of Defense and Air Force explosives safety standards.

Range Safety Office (45 SW/SEA and 45 SW/SEL)
Due to the unique 45th SW mission of space launch, the largest group in safety is concerned with protecting the general public, launch site personnel and government resources from the inherent hazards of rockets and space vehicles. Range Safety includes flight analysis, risk analysis, policy and requirement development, and system safety assessment.

Sexual Assault Response

Mission: To enhance combat readiness through prevention, education, deterrence and response to sexual assault for Patrick AFB and Cape Canaveral AFS military and DoD civilian personnel, and geographically separated units.

Wing Operations Center/

The Wing Operations Center/Command Post is the 45th Space Wing's point of contact for space operations and emergency management. The Wing Operations Center/Command Post not only provides this service to the Wing's senior leaders, but to all 45th Space Wing, Air Force and Department of Defense members and their families.

45TH OPERATIONS GROUP (45 LOG/CC)

The Operations Group is responsible for program management and operation of five squadrons which perform all Eastern Range launch operations including Delta II, Delta III, Atlas II, Atlas III, Titan IV, Space Shuttle, Pegasus and Athena space launch vehicles. The Operations Group also provides support to Naval Ordnance Test Unit operations. In support of space launch operations, the Operations Group coordinates training for the wing, manages all wing spacecraft services systems and facilities, and manages the Patrick AFB air traffic complex, handling more than 24,000 aircraft operations annually.

1st Range Operations Squadron (1st ROPS)

The 1st Range Operations Squadron is where the world's finest spacelift and range operations professionals work as a team to ensure mission success of spacelift, ballistic and aeronautical test missions. The squadron provides world-wide customers: range operations, operations support management and scheduling services.

Det 1, Antigua Air Station, West Indies
The primary mission of Det 1, 45th Operations Group is to provide telemetry and radar tracking data to support space launches out of the Eastern Range. When not supporting its primary mission, the unit has the secondary mission of providing radar tracking data for locating and cataloging space objects in support of U.S. Space Command's Space Surveillance Network. Det 1 is located on the island nation of Antigua, West Indies. Antigua is one of the northeastern most islands in the Leeward Island chain and is approximately 1,250 nautical miles southeast of Patrick AFB.

Det 2, Ascension Auxilary Air Field
The primary mission of Det 2, 45th Operations Group, is to provide telemetry and radar tracking data to support space launches out of the Eastern Range. When not supporting its primary mission, the unit has the secondary mission of providing radar tracking data for locating and cataloging space objects in support of the United States Space Command Space Surveillance Network. Ascension Island is a British territory located in the South Atlantic more than 5,090 miles southeast of Patrick AFB and about 500 miles south of the equator, halfway between South America and Africa.

45th Operations Support
Squadron (45 OSS/CCA)

Promotes assured access to space to fulfill war-fighting, CINC and national requirements by providing policy decisions, training and airfield operations for the 45th Operations Group, while managing all airfield and air traffic control services for the 45th Space Wing.

The 45th Launch Operations Support Flight provides behind-the-scenes support for all launches. Acting as protocol, the launch operations support flight helps coordinate tours and launch viewing for distinguished visitors and coordinating launch critical briefings and conferences.

The 45th Airfield Operations Flight manages the Patrick AFB airfield and provides air traffic control services in support of the space range and the National Airspace System. The Patrick AFB air traffic Control Tower is one of the newest in the Air Force. Base Operations provides transient and base-assigned aircraft ground services and has supported numerous multi-service deployments and humanitarian missions.

The Current Operations Flight coordinates and implements Wing-level policies and procedures which provide the structure for launch operations. As such, the squadron is the Wing's interface to Air Force Space Command, 14th Air Force and other major air commands for longterm planning and resolving operational issues.

The Spacelift Operations Training Flight provides Wing training policy and guidance for more than 100 space launch operators. They coordinate launch operations and instructor training for all 45th Operations Group missionready personnel, as well as directly assist the operations squadrons in improving their unit training programs. The Operations Training Flight serves as the Operations Group interface with higher headquarters on all new training requirements and procedures.

The group contributes to mission success through seamless partnership with launch/satellite program offices.

45th Launch Support Squadron

The 45th Launch Support Squadron is the flightline for Department of Defense spacecraft. LCSS personnel oversee spacecraft hardware arrival, processing, testing and launch through direct delegation from spacecraft development wings throughout the DoD, ultimately providing launch base mission assurance for the Program Executive Officer for Space. In addition, the squadron is responsible for ensuring continued delivery of critical mission-ready facilities, training and programmatic resources to the launch group, the wing and its customers.

45th Aeromedical-Dental Squadron
This squadron seeks to maximize the readiness and operating effectiveness through specialized medical care for all flying and special duty personnel, and provide comprehensive health promotional programs and dental, optometry and immunization services for 3,200 active and 35,000 non-active duty beneficiaries.

45th Medical Operations Squadron
The 45th Medical Operations Squadron provides comprehensive medical care to more than 3,200 military and Coast Guard active duty members, focusing on prevention to ensure a medically deployable and spacelift-capable force. It also provides space available care for more than 35,000 nonactive duty beneficiaries.

45th Medical Support Squadron
This squadron supports the 45th Medical Group's delivery of quality, customer-focused and cost-effective health care to 3,200 military and Coast Guard active duty members, keeping them medically ready for their operational mission at home or deployed.
