Active duty physical exams are by appointment only. Routine screenings (i.e. fire fighting) are conducted on a walk-in basis. Clearance Notices (Upchits) are completed by appointment only. There is no walk-in sick call. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 to 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 to 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 953-3776/3779.
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Active duty clinic Old Gym Building 529 hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed for lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is an Active Duty only clinic that requires a consultation for an appointment. The dependent/retirees clinic inside the Branch Health Clinic Oceana, Hallway E, hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. closed for lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Clinic requires consult for appointment. IMMUNIZATION CLINIC
Hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Yellow Fever Vaccine is given every first and third Friday of the month, by appointment ONLY, 8 to 10 a.m. Allergy shots are given 7 to 10:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. by appointment ONLY. PPD's are not given on Wednesday or on Thursday after 11 a.m. No appointment is necessary; patients are seen on a first come, first served basis. For any questions, call 953-3837.
PHARMACY SERVICES
The Pharmacy Division provides prescription service to Active Duty and to all eligible beneficiaries. The Pharmacy is open for business Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Patients presenting with civilian prescriptions will be checked in at the Pharmacy desk until 6:30 p.m. daily. The Pharmacy is closed on Saturday, Sunday and all Federal holidays. The Pharmacy at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and Boone Clinic are open Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for those needing weekend service.
Refill service is available by calling 953-6337. Refills are available for pick-up at the clinic in three business days. Refills may be picked up daily, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Refills are not available for pickup on Saturday, Sunday or Federal holidays. Medications not picked up within five working days are returned to stock. We ask for your support in picking up your medication on time, as failing to do so impacts yourself as well as other patrons. A limited number of over the counter medications are available without prescription. Please report to the Pharmacy check-in desk for a request form. These medications are treated as any other medication and are added to your profile to check for drug interactions or allergies. Active Duty in uniform presenting prescriptions are given head of line privileges. Our Pharmacy is committed to ensuring the health and welfare of our Active Duty forces remain our primary focus though we are likewise committed to serving family members and the retired community. MEDICAL RECORDS
The Medical Records Division is open Monday through Friday to serve Active Duty personnel from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and military family members from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Active Duty personnel reporting/detaching from NAS Oceana will report/ detach Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. In order to receive your medical record, please have either a military identification card or a family member identification card available. Please keep in mind that without a Medical Power of Attorney, medical records will not be checked out to spouses or any unauthorized patrons.
PRIMARY CARE/REFERRALS
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The primary care provider at the Branch Medical Clinic, Oceana, enters all referrals into the electronic referral system. Referrals take 48-72hrs to show in the system after that time appointment has to be within 30 Days or referral will expire. The appointments are booked through (866) 645-4584. OVERSEAS/SEA DUTY SCREENING
The purpose of the overseas screening process is to ensure you and your family members are qualified for overseas assignments. Sea duty screening is to ensure Active Duty members are fit for sea duty. Time management is essential since this process usually takes a few days to complete may take a couple of weeks due to different circumstances. It is done on a walk-in basis Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (closed Wednesday and Friday), 7 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Upon reporting, make sure you have your medical and dental records and a copy of your transfer orders. We will review your records for any chronic illnesses and make sure there is no appointments pending. Your physical exam must be current and up to date. Once the record is reviewed, you will proceed to the Laboratory, Immunizations and the Dental Clinic to complete the process. Upon completion, report back to the check-in desk to make an appointment with the screening provider for finalization. For any questions, contact Overseas/Sea Duty Screening at 953-3778.
OPTOMETRY
Eye exams and a selection of glasses are available to all Active Duty personnel at Branch Health Clinic, Oceana Optometry Division. All patients are seen by appointment. Please call the Tricare Service Center to schedule your eye appointment at (866) 645-4584. Active Duty members are eligible to order one new frame of choice (FOC) each year. Retirees with a current prescription from a civilian doctor are eligible to order one pair of glasses per year in the standard, Navy issue brown plastic frame. Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK, a form of laser vision correction) is available to Active Duty Navy personnel on a very limited basis. If you desire to be placed on the waiting list for PRK, please notify the optometrist at the time of your appointment. Those personnel who work in an environment where glasses pose a safety hazard will be given first priority for laser surgery. For more information about PRK, call DSN 524-0555.
RADIOLOGY
Radiology (x-ray) Exams are done on a walk-in basis only. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Exams are done on a first come, first served basis. Urgent cases are seen first. Special procedures such as barium swallow, oral cholecystogram, ultrasound and Computed Tomography scans are scheduled by our clinic but the procedure will be done at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Branch Health Clinic, Boone, and Branch Health Clinic, Sewells Point.
DEPLOYMENT HEALTH
Appointment only; PHA's, pre-deployment physical and post-deployment physical. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday 7 to 11 a.m. Contact phone number for Deployment Health 953-3838.
LABORATORY DIVISION
The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Civilian prescriptions are honored for tests performed on-site and at military reference laboratories. Please call the Laboratory directly at 953-3826 to inquire about the lab tests that have been ordered by civilian prescription. Medicare customers are welcomed for laboratory service.
HEALTH BENEFITS
The Health Benefits office is located inside the Branch Health Clinic, Naval Air Station, Oceana. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. The Health Benefits Advisors (HBA) provide basic TRICARE information including how to file a claim, explanation of a benefits statement, supplemental insurance information and TRICARE updates.
Active Duty Claims are bills incurred from non-military treatment facilities (i.e. emergency room, etc.). Local providers in the area will file Active Duty claims with the TRICARE claims processor. For out-of-area care, be sure to advise the provider to file with TRICARE Region North, Active Duty Claims, P.O. Box 870140, Surfside Beach, SC 29587-9740. Health Benefits Advisors also have another role as the Debt Collection Assistance Officer (DCAO). The DCAO manages and tracks debt collection concerns of Tricare beneficiaries. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH DIVISION
The Occupational Health Division is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Physical exams for medical surveillance and certifications are performed Monday through Friday by appointment. For Squadron ONLY call 953-3776 to schedule an appointment. All others please e-mail Roy Vexler at roy.vexler@med.navy.mil to make an appointment. Civilian employees who are injured at work are seen during normal working hours. The Occupational Health Nurse can be reached at 953-3772.
EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM (EFMP)
EFMP is a program designed to identify family members with long term health care or educational needs. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 7 to 11 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m.; Friday, 7 to 11 a.m. For additional information, call 953-3768.
DAM NECK ANNEX
Dam Neck Annex provides primary health care to active duty personnel assigned to Dam Neck Annex and tenant commands. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointments are scheduled through the Hampton Roads Appointment Center by calling (866) 645-4584.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Services include Wart Clinic, Physical Exams, PFB Clinic, PRT Screenings, Sea Duty Screenings, Overseas Screenings and Immunizations. Appointments may be obtained by calling TRICARE at (800) 931-9501. If you have an emergency on base, call 492-6911, for off-base emergencies, please call 911. If you have any questions pertaining to non-emergent medical advice, you can contact the Nurse Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the TRICARE number listed above.
PHYSICAL EXAMS
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 to 11 a.m. Report no later than 7 a.m. in the Uniform of the Day. Please make sure you bring your Military ID, Medical and Dental Records and a black ink pen. You will be required to do the following: 1. Fast for 12 hours prior to your physical exam (nothing to eat or drink except for water). You may take your medications as needed. 2. Leave any prescription contact lenses off for 24 hours prior to your appointment and bring your prescription eyeglasses. Re-enlistment physicals are scheduled by appointment only. Please ensure your five-year physical is up-to-date. Appointments are typically made four weeks in advance, so please plan ahead.
IMMUNIZATIONS
Hours of operation for routine immunizations and allergy shots are on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Yellow Fever vaccine is given every Friday of each month, 8 to 9 a.m. PPDs will not be administered on Thursday or Friday due to a required 72-hour follow-up.
MEDICAL RECORDS
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Hours of operation for personnel checking into the Base are from 7:30 to 11 a.m., and 1 to 3 p.m. Personnel who are checking out can do so at any time during normal working hours.
HEALTH PROMOTIONS/ PREVENTITIVE HEALTH ASSESSMENTS (PHA)
The Health Promotions division offers a variety of services to include: Hypertension Management, Tobacco Cessation, Weight Management, Cholesterol Management and Diabetes Education. For PHA appointments, call (866) 645 4584.
OVERSEAS SCREENINGS
Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Closed Thursday. If any Questions please call 953-9883/9884.
SEA DUTY SCREENINGS
The purpose of the sea duty screening process is to ensure every service member meets the physical, medical and dental standards for assignment to sea duty. The process is divided into two appointments. On the first appointment, the member's record will be reviewed for discrepancies and will be identified and corrected. At the second appointment, a medical provider will ensure all requirements are met before signing the qualification for transfer to sea duty.
LABORATORY
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Specimens drawn at other Military facilities or commercial reference laboratories will not be accepted. If you are interested in becoming a bone marrow donor, please call 953-9879.
PHARMACY
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Active Duty prescriptions only. You must present your Military ID card when picking up a prescription. If any questions please call 953-9915 ext. 7, or 953-9881. If we are unable to fill your prescription, you may be able to fill it at Branch Medical Clinic, NAS, Oceana.
OB/GYN CLINIC
The OB Clinic hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for Active Duty service members and eligible beneficiaries. The GYN Clinic is open for Active Duty members only on Wednesday and Friday, 1 to 3 p.m. All appointments can be obtained by calling the Hampton Roads Appointment Center by calling (866) 645-4584.
BRANCH DENTAL CLINIC
The Branch Dental Clinic at NAS Oceana/Dam Neck is a complete dental facility with most dental specialties. These specialties include Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and Oral Surgery. In addition to the specialists, the facility has General Dentists capable of performing all phases of Dentistry, and Dental Hygienists to take care of Preventive Dentistry. Comprehensive dental care is available to all active duty personnel of tenant commands in the Oceana/Dam Neck area.
Due to extremely limited space for available care, spouses and family members must be enrolled in the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP). Information pertaining to this program can be received at (800) 866-8499. The clinic's working hours are Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Sick call for active duty personnel is mornings, 7 to 10:30 a.m. and Monday through Thursday, 7 to 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, 7 to 10:30 a.m.
