Miramar offers a wide variety of recreational activities, including an 18-hole golf course, three full-service fitness centers and a number of restaurants and clubs for air station personnel. A complete list of updated activities can be accessed at the Marine Corps Community Services website www.mccsmiramar.com. The following chapter offers information about a variety of entertainment services, restaurants, clubs and other recreational services available aboard the air station.

Auto Skills Center
Vehicle repairs of all types can be performed with minimal cost at the Auto Skills Center, Building 6673. Open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the center offers vehicle lifts, stalls, vehicle repair information and a complete assortment of hand tools and equipment. There is also a motorcycle and bicycle repair area. ASE-certified technicians and staff are available for guidance and assistance. For more information, call (858) 577-1215.

The Barn Center Annex
The Barn is located in Building 7115 and offers strength conditioning, cardiovascular machines and free weights for a complete workout. Locker rooms and showers are also provided. The Barn is open Monday through Friday. Contact the Barn at (858) 577-6042.

Big Bear Recreation Facility
Air station personnel can make Big Bear cabin reservations by calling (858) 577-4126/4141. Camper and campsite reservations can be made at (909) 866-3965. Reservations are taken the first business day of the month through the fourth business day of the month, two months prior to the reservation month; i.e. the first business day in March for a priority-one customer to reserve days in May.

Car Rental
Hertz, located in Building 2257 offers car rentals Monday through Saturday. Call (858) 695-7349 for reservations.

Clubs
Legends Sports Grill (Enlisted Club)
Legends Sports Grill is open seven days a week and is an E5 and below sports grill that offers sandwiches, salads, pizza, burgers and beverages. Legends Sports Grill can be reached at (858) 693-1543.

Officers' Club
The Officers' Club is located in Building 4472 and features lunch in the "Ready Room" Monday through Friday. The bar, open Wednesday through Friday, offers a happy hour and DJ entertainment on Fridays along with weekly beverage specials. Look for Mongolian barbecue nights, crabfests and more on the club's monthly calendar. For more information, call (858) 577-4808.

Rockers Staff NCO Club
The Rockers Staff NCO Club features pool, darts, trivia and dining. Located in Building 3750, the club is open daily and can be reached at (858) 566-4671.

Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum
The museum, located next to the Officer's Club, is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The museum features unit patch displays, historical photographs, uniform displays and a special section dedicated to female Marines. Military aircraft static displays dating back to World War II offer a close-up look at Marine aviation history. History experts are available for large groups by calling (858) 693-1723.

GameStop
MCAS Miramar hosts a GameStop video game retailer, located in Building 5638, offers a selection of affordable video games for air station residents and personnel. Contact them at (858) 684-3072.

Golf Course
Located at Building 3750 and open seven days a week, the 18-hole championship golf course beckons service members to enjoy the links or the driving range. The pro shop offers club rentals, lessons, carts and a wide range of accessories. Call (858) 577-4155 for reservations.

The Great Escape
The Great Escape, Building 5305, is open seven days a week and offers video games, a big screen television and other entertainment options. A non-alcoholic facility, The Great Escape also plans daily recreational activities and weekend tours to local attractions. The cyber center provides electronic mail and Internet access. Health Promotion
Looking for help with your diet, blood pressure or cholesterol issues? Contact our nutrition specialist for class schedules. Unit presentations and classes are also available for smoking cessation, stress, fitness, sports injury prevention and STD/HIV awareness. For more information, call (858) 577-1331.

ITT/Travel Office
Whether air station personnel are interested in a sporting event, movie, amusement park or fishing charter, the first stop for discounted tickets should be the ITT/Travel Office, Building 2524. Patrons can also purchase tickets for concerts, theater performances and other events at the office through Ticketmaster. The office is open daily, excluding major holidays. Library
The Library, located at Building 5305, is open Monday through Saturday and offers a vast collection of books, magazines, audio books, CDs and more. Computers are available for Internet use and word processing. A photocopier and fax machine are available for a small fee. Marine Corps Community Services
Marine Corps Community Services offers a wide variety of services and activities for active duty and retired service members and their families. The MCCS Administration Office, Building 2273, can be reached at (858) 577-4099.

Mills Park
Located next to the Miramar Inn, the park provides picnic shelters and tables, barbecue grills, softball fields, horseshoe pits, and a basketball and volleyball court. Facilities can be reserved for unit events by calling (858) 577-4099 weekly during working hours.

Miramar Sports Complex
The air station's comprehensive fitness center/gymnasium is located in Building 2471. Open daily, the center features a weight room, aerobics rooms, spinning and cardiovascular equipment. Racquetball, volleyball and squash courts are provided, along with locker rooms and a sports equipment checkout area. Outdoor facilities include a running course, a track, softball fields and basketball, volleyball, tennis and racquetball courts. Exercise specialists are available to assess patron fitness levels, provide equipment orientation, offer design programs to achieve fitness goals. Outdoor Adventure Center
Located at Building 6673, the Outdoor Adventure Center rents camping supplies and snow skis, water and sports equipment at minimal prices. The center also offers outdoor excursions, including kayaking and hiking. The center is closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

Semper Fit Center
Located in Building 2002, this smaller, state-of-the-art facility offers free weights, cardiovascular equipment, an indoor basketball court, aerobics rooms and a full range of fitness services. Single Marine Program
The Single Marine Program was created to improve the quality of life and recreational opportunities for Miramar's single Marines. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at a selected location. Stop by The Great Escape or contact the program's coordinator at (858) 577-6283.

Swimming Pools
The air station features a 50-meter, training tank sized, heated outdoor swimming pool that is open to all ranks. Located at Building 2000 near the Bob Hope Theater, the pool offers lap swim, lessons, aqua-aerobics and recreation swimming seasonally. Call (858) 577-4137 for details. The Officer's Club pool is all hands and is located behind the Officer's club and is open limited hours during the summer season. Teen Center
The Teen Center is located in Building 2247 and provides eligible family members and guests ages 12 to 17 (18 if still in high school) a place to socialize in a casual environment. Teens can enjoy field trips, computers, movies, billiards, basketball, music and can help plan activities and special events. A monthly calendar of events lists hours and special programs available. Theater (Bob Hope)
The Bob Hope Theater is located in Building 2242 and shows movies Wednesday through Sunday starting at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $1 for patrons 6 years old and up. Matinees are offered Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Call (858) 577-4143 for a complete weekly list of movies and show times.

Youth Center
Co-located with the Teen Center in Building 2700, the Youth Center provides recreational programs for children ages 5 to 12. Activities include: before- and after-school programs, holiday carnivals, all night lock-ins, holiday day camps, seasonal sports leagues and instructional classes such as tap, jazz, ballet, piano and karate.
