Fitness CenterHickam Fitness and Sports Center houses a regulation size basketball court and three racquetball courts. It features two full lines of selectorized machines, a large selection of free weight equipment, and 52 pieces of cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, upright and recumbent bicycles, steppers, arc trainers rower, and elliptical cross trainers. The center offers a wide variety of group exercise classes such as cardio kickboxing, spinning, step aerobics, zumba and yoga.The center also offers an intramural and varsity sports program, incentive programs, special events, Massage and Spa services, Personal Training and Microfit fitness assessments. Age restrictions are as follows: Patrons 16 years of age have unrestricted use of the facility; 13 and 15 years of age require interactive parental supervision in the cardio/weight room, but have unrestricted use in all other areas; youth under 13 are prohibited from using the cardio/weight rooms, but are allowed in the basketball and racquetball courts with interactive parental supervision.Use of the facility is free for all eligible ID card holders. LibraryHickam library's collection features 39,000 physical items consisting of: Printed books, Audio CDs, Play aways, DVDs, software, and study materials. Online databases include EBSCO,NetLibrary,Overdrive and Tumble books for children. Pre-School Story Time is held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.Dial-a-story is available 24/7 by calling (808) 449-8297.
The Library has 25 Internet computers, three hardwire cable drops and Wi-Fi access. Patrons must register for a password in advance to use the Wi-Fi connection. Color copying and printing are available for 25 cents per page, black and white copying and printing is 10 cents per page. Fax service is available for $1 per page for Oahu and U.S. Mainland. Cover sheets are free. Overseas faxes are $4 for the first page and $2 for each additional page.
All active-duty personnel, retirees, National Guard, reservists,Department of Defense employees and family members of these groups with valid ID cards are eligible to borrow material from Hickam's library. Full-time Air Force contractors and non-DoD personnel enrolled in Air Force or DoD-sponsored education programs also are eligible. Customers must show an ID and be on the account. Building 595.
