Battle Bean coffee shops
Enjoy a cup of joe or a specialty drink, along with breakfast or lunch at one of Battle Bean coffee shops' five locations. Battle Bean coffee is locally roasted and the menu offers sandwiches, salads, soups, baked goods and more. Selections vary by location.

Battle Bean Café is located in the AFC Arena, Building 2275 at Lewis Main. Relax and stay awhile at the AFC Arena location, indulging in a sweet dessert while you enjoy your coffee. Located at Lewis North on the shores of American Lake, the Bistro serves a variety of pastas, pizzas and sandwiches. The Bistro emphasizes house-made items, such as marinara and Bolognese sauces. Cascade Community Center
Open to everyone for a quick and tasty weekday lunch, the Cascade Community Center at Lewis Main offers made-to-order grilled items, hot daily lunch specials and a salad bar. Like it hot? McChord Club
The McChord Club offers an experienced catering staff and executive chef, ready to create a beautiful reception, retirement party or simply a great meal. Strike Zones
Strike Zone Café is located inside Bowl Arena Lanes at Lewis Main and has burgers, pizza, nachos, ice cream and more. The open space is large enough to accommodate families and small groups, so bring your co-workers or friends to lunch. Recreation
Most recreation facilities at JBLM are operated by FMWR. Service members, retirees, family members, civilian employees and their guests are eligible to use the facilities.

AFC Arena
Fun for all ages awaits you in the AFC Arena. Skate or blade on the indoor skating rink. The rink offers low-cost skating for children and is available for parties. Enjoy locally roasted coffee in the Battle Bean Café. There are rooms available for group meetings, and Leisure Travel Services is also located inside. For more information, call (253) 967-4458.

Bowling fun at JBLM
Step into the state-of-the-art Bowl Arena Lanes for fun at Lewis Main. Featuring 40 lanes with computerized scoring, a pro shop, game room and bar, you can have fun anytime. Leagues for children and adults of all levels are available, as well as birthday packages. Xtreme bowling provides weekend fun for Families, units and groups. Call (253) 967-4661.

Sounders Lanes is equipped with 20 synthetic lanes, computerized scoring systems and comfortable furniture. There are leagues, open play and tournaments for adults and juniors year-round. Great golfing at JBLM
With two courses at JBLM, you're sure to enjoy golfing during your time here. Eagles Pride Golf Course provides a 27-hole championship course, driving range and practice facility. Golf clubs, hand carts and motorized carts are available for rent, and the Pro Shop has a variety of logo items and golf equipment for purchase. Whispering Firs Golf Course at McChord Field offers golfers a superb place to play seven days a week. This well-maintained 18-hole course includes a covered driving range and a practice putting area. The golf course is one of the finest military courses in the Air Force, offering a championship PGA course at reasonable prices and providing all golfers the unique opportunity to use every club in their bag. The Whispering Firs Pro Shop is stocked with pro-line golf equipment, clothing and other golfing gear. Leisure Travel Services
Get tickets to the hottest concerts and sporting events, or plan the trip of a lifetime with Leisure Travel Services. Conveniently located in the AFC Arena at Lewis Main, the staffers at LTS can help plan your next vacation, whether you're staying in the Pacific Northwest, going to Disneyland or heading on a cruise. McChord Community Center
The Community Center hosts unit events, socials and entertainment. There are always special events to enjoy, such as Texas Hold 'em, Brewfest, pay-per-view events and more. Take classes, learn an instrument, go to the Surf Spot to check your email and use their free WiFi, or head to the base theater to take in a free movie on weekends. Nelson Recreation Center

Splash Park
For hours of fun on hot summer days, visit the JBLM Splash Park. Conveniently located in Army Family Covenant Park near the AFC Arena and Bowl Arena Lanes at Lewis Main, the Splash Park provides hours of fun for youth and Families of all ages and much-needed relief from soaring temperatures. Warrior Zone
The Warrior Zone has everything a service member could want in a recreational facility - gaming, Internet, movies, billiards, snack bar, patio and more. This 18-and-older facility houses game stations with 55-inch hi-definition monitors for console gaming, Xbox and PS3 stations that are Internetready and LAN-connected for casual tourneys and challenges, Alienware gaming computers (with the latest games), computers for Internet use, WiFi, and more. Relax with a game of pool at one of the eight tables, or zone out in front of one of the many flat-screen televisions throughout the facility. A patio with fire pit and barbecues provides an outdoor setting for your enjoyment. There is also a snack bar with food and beverage items, including beer, available for purchase. Better Opportunities for Single Service Members
The Warrior Zone is home to the Better Opportunities for Single Service Members program. Volunteers with the BOSS program give back to the community - through recreational events, helping with other organizations and seasonal projects, you can help change the quality of life for many in the JBLM community. Recognized Army wide for its success, the JBLM BOSS program has been renamed to include the Airmen of McChord Field and is the first in the Army to include members serving in other military branches. Sports & Fitness Centers
Get active with intramural and companylevel sports, instructional classes and more. JBLM's athletic program for men and woman is run by the Sports and Fitness administrative office. Cowan and Memorial stadiums
Football facilities, as well as an all-weather track, are housed at Cowan and Memorial stadiums, Building 2170 at Lewis Main. Additional athletic fields are located in five different areas at JBLM: across from Wilson Sports and Fitness Center; at Cemetery Road and 2nd Division Drive; behind Soldiers Field House, adjacent to Keeler Gym; at the Sheridan Complex and across from the McChord Field Fitness Center. Jensen Family Health and Fitness Center
Child care while you work out is available at Jensen Family Health and Fitness Center. Child care is offered on a space-available basis for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age while you participate in fitness activities at the facility. Age-appropriate activities and supervision will be provided by qualified Child, Youth and School Services care giving staffers. Food service is not provided. The center also houses an indoor track, LifeFitness strength and cardio equipment and an aerobic studio with a full schedule of free fitness classes. McChord Fitness Center and Fitness Annex
The McChord Fitness Center is dedicated to making sure service members are Fit for Freedom. Work out with the help of fitness specialists or on your own with state-ofthe- art equipment. Options include cardio machines, treadmills, cross-trainers, upright and recumbent bikes, stair climbers, rowers and more. You'll find a selection of free weights, as well as Hammer Strength and Life Fitness Signature Circuit. Start and end your workout in the stretching/abdominal room.

Additionally, there is a gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, as well as racquetball courts, tennis courts and an inline skating rink. McVeigh Sports and Fitness
Center and Kimbro Pool
One of the best-equipped weight lifting facilities around is at Lewis Main. McVeigh Sports and Fitness Center has a CrossFit room, Life Fitness circuits, cable-motion and Smith machines, power racks and platforms, fixed and curl barbells, dumbbells and more. The gym, located in Building 2160 on Liggett Avenue also has multi-use jungles, a wide array of multi-use adjustable and fixed benches, treadmills (decline and incline) and stepmills, elliptical machines, upright, spin and recumbent bikes, concept rowers, steppers and a large stretching area. There is a boxing area, climbing room, 50-inch TVs with Cardio Vision (FM receivers for listening to the TVs) and men's and women's saunas. For more information, call (253) 967-5869. Sheridan Sports and Fitness Center
Sheridan Sports and Fitness Center, another convenient location at Lewis Main, is located in Building 3759 on Stryker Avenue. The gym boasts a cardio room with TVs as well as a CrossFit room. There are indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a volleyball court, Nautilus circuit, free weights and a co-ed sauna. For more information, call (253) 967-7311.

Soldiers Field House and Soldiers Field House Pool
The largest sports facility on base is Soldiers Field House, Building 3236, just off 2nd Division Drive. It has LifeFitness and Hammer Strength selectorize machines, free weights, cable-motion and Smith machines, power racks and platforms, fixed and curl barbells, dumbbells, kettle bells and more. This gym also has multi-use jungles, a wide selection of adjustable, fixed, incline and decline benches, an attractive cardio area with treadmills, stepmills, ellipticals, steppers, summit trainers, upright and recumbent bikes and concept rowers. The cardio rooms are equipped with 50-inch TVs with Cardio Vision. There is also a stretch area with a fixed sit-up bar and P90X in two locations, and men's and women's locker rooms with saunas. Wilson Sports and Fitness Center
Wilson Sports and Fitness Center houses everything you expect in a gym, as well as no-cost recreation for service members. The facility has a CrossFit room, free weights, LifeFitness circuit, LifeCircuit machines, aerobic machines and men's and women's saunas. For more information, call (253) 967-7471.

Outdoor Recreation
Explore the Evergreen State by foot, kayak, skis and more with an adventure guide from the Outdoor Recreation Program. Outdoor Recreation facilities are spread across JBLM, encompassing 800 acres of land. On-base lakes provide picnicking and fishing opportunities, and the adventure program office offers a wide range of outdoor adventure trips to get service members and their families out exploring and having fun. Activities are led by professional guides, and many trips are designed for novice adventurers, Families or ladies only. Some of the activities offered include cross-country ski trips, downhill ski/snowboard trips and snowshoeing trips during the winter months. Mountain biking, whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, hiking, caving and fishing are some of the trips offered during the spring and summer months. The adventure guides can also customize activities to create private trips for units, Family Readiness Groups and families. The recreation areas available at JBLM include a fitness trail with exercise stations; Solo Point, a saltwater boat launch site on Puget Sound; Chambers Lake; Lewis Lake; scenic picnic and primitive camping areas; Tall Firs picnic area on American Lake; pavilions at Russell Landing Marina; Miller Hill recreation area and Holiday Park Campground. A Washington state fishing license is required to fish, either on or off base. A Washington state hunting license is required to hunt both on and off base. Licenses are available for purchase at the Northwest Adventure Center.

For all your outdoor needs ...
Get equipped for outdoor adventures, sign up for adventure trips and classes and more at the Northwest Adventure Center and Adventures Unlimited. The Northwest Adventure Center is a state-of-the-art facility located in Building 8050 on NCO Beach Road at Lewis North. Adventures Unlimited is located at McChord Field and also offers a variety of outdoor services. Both locations offer complete outdoor equipment rental programs that include boats and camping equipment. Sporting goods, firearms and ammunition and camping and fishing equipment, as well as whitewater and sea kayaks are available for purchase at the sales shop at the NAC. The NAC offers classes and clinics for many of the outdoor pursuits enjoyed in Washington and the Pacific Northwest, and pickup times are available at both locations for most trips. The NAC controls hunting opportunities on base, which require a safety briefing, and houses the Outdoor Recreation administrative offices. Additionally, the NAC boasts the military's only PADI* five-star instructor development center, where safety is a top priority. Certification classes are offered for all levels of divers (even if you've never donned a scuba mask and tank before), and the dive shop offers a full line of high-quality dive equipment. Camping at and traveling to JBLM
The Lewis North Travel Camp has lakeside log cabins as well as sites with blacktop pads, sewer, power and cable TV, and commons with laundry and shower facilities. The log cabins are situated on the shores of American Lake, offering guests a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, daily maid service and linens and towels. Providing an additional option for your outdoor needs, Holiday Park Campground has everything you could want for your next camping trip or barbecue. Holiday Park features covered picnic shelters, picnic tables and grills, allowing you to get away from it all while still on base. The park is open to all service members on a first-come, first-served basis for picnic shelters and other areas. The only facility for which reservations are accepted is the pavilion with adjoining patio and covered barbecue area. Horseshoe pits and volleyball courts are also available, and the park is a nice place to eat lunch away from the office. For reservations, call (253) 982-5488.

ORV Park
The JBLM Off-Road Vehicle Park is the place to play on your dirt bikes and ATVs. Have fun on weekends and holidays during daylight hours. For registration and rules, visit http://www.JBLMmwr.com.

Russell Landing Marina
Cruise the lake or take in the beautiful water views at Russell Landing Marina. Located on the northwestern side of Beachwood on American Lake Avenue at Lewis North, the Marina offers motorized boat rentals ranging from a pontoon boat to 16-foot aluminum boats. Renters must be 18 years of age and have a military or DOD ID card. A boating safety card is also required for renting and can be simultaneously obtained free of charge after completing a video class. Have your own boat? The Marina offers year-round, wet/dry moorage based on boat length. There is a minimal fee for launching a boat. The tackle and bait shop sells select fishing items, chips, candy, ice and beverages. There is a family-friendly area with a playground and several lakeside pavilions for your next family or unit barbecue, plus the Bistro for lunch or dinner. Shoreline Park
Shoreline Park is a beautiful seasonal swimming area, located on the west end of Beachwood Housing on Beach Road at Lewis North. The area is staffed with lifeguards for safety, and the lakeside snack bar offers food and beverages, as well as boat, kayak and canoe rentals. Boat cards are not required to rent non-motorized boats, but renters must be at least 14 years old and have a valid military or DOD ID card. Skeet, Rifle and Pistol ranges
Lewis Main is home to one of the finest skeet ranges in the Army. Offering six skeet fields, four trap fields with duck tower, fivestand and wobble skeet, the Skeet Range hosts monthly sporting clay competitions and registered skeet compactions. The newly remodeled clubhouse offers shooting sports resale and a snack bar. For more information, call (253) 967-7056.

Libraries
The information highway leads to the JBLM Libraries. Customers can access the online catalog, full-text research databases, 10,000 title e-book collection and online tutoring sessions by going to http://www.JBLMmwr.com/libraries.

Come to the libraries for more than 100,000 books, audio books, DVDs, video games and compact discs. The libraries also subscribe to more than 300 magazines and newspapers, with files in a variety of formats dating back to 1960. Access reference materials and receive materials from other libraries through the interlibrary loan program. Renew or reserve your materials online. Surf the Internet and check email on library computers, or use your own laptop with the free wireless service. Play video games on popular gaming systems such as Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3. Both branches also present author visits, special open house events and programs for adults and children. Bring your preschooler to storytimes at McChord Field and Book Patch libraries, and older children can enjoy youth reading programs at both locations.

Prepare for tests at McChord Field Library's test center specializing in CLEP, DANTES and ASVAB tests in multiple formats that include books, DVDs, videos and iPod. JBLM Libraries serve military members, retirees, students, civilian employees and family members. Grandstaff, Book Patch (for children) and McChord provide the JBLM community with resources in support of recreational, educational and mission-related needs.

Arts & Crafts Center
Find unique gifts and personalized items at the JBLM Arts and Crafts centers - one-stop shops for all your gift-giving needs. Matting and framing is available at both locations, and classes are available. The professional staffers can help you with your framing needs and the gallery provides a wide variety of choices for departure gifts, limited-edition military art and other prints.

Both centers offer personalization services for almost any item, from bags, hats, T-shirts, mugs and more. With an embroidery machine, heat press, vinyl shop and engraving capabilities, you can outfit your family, vehicle or office in one-of-a-kind items. At McChord Field, the engraving shop can personalize items including plaques and coffee mugs; the vinyl shop creates personalized stickers, signs and automobile art, and the embroidery shop can embroider anything, as long as it will fit in a hoop. The McChord Field Arts and Crafts Center also sells the JBLM holiday ornament. The Lewis Main location is in Building 5038 at the corner of 2nd Street and Pendleton Avenue. Resale lots are another service of the Arts and Crafts Centers. One lot is located on Main Street next to the museum at Lewis North. All POVs in the lot must be registered with the Lewis Arts and Crafts Center for a nominal fee. The second resale lot is at McChord Field on Lincoln Boulevard near the Commissary. Auto Skills Development Centers
Repair, maintain or overhaul your vehicle with the help of the professional mechanics at the Auto Skills Development Centers. The Engine Repair Shop, Building 4043, has indoor general work bays, lube bays, tire bays, work benches and secure storage. The mechanics provide professional services in machine work, engine analysis and wheel alignment. The Autobody/Paint Shop, Building 4081 at the corner of Clark and West ways, provides both self-help and professional services. Also in the Lewis Main Auto Skill Center complex is a 24-hour wand-type carwash. The McChord Field Auto Center, in Building 1120, offers a variety of self-help services and classes, all geared towards helping you save money in maintaining your car. The indoor facility has hoists, general-maintenance stalls, computerized engine analysis equipment,wheel repair, balancing equipment and more. Services Army Community Service
Army Community Service is designed specifically to assist service members, families, retirees and eligible civilians in coping with a variety of topics. ACS provides information, assistance and guidance to members of the community in coping with personal and family problems beyond the scope of their own resources. Air Force Aid
If an emergency or financial crisis leaves you short of cash, Air Force Aid Society may be able to help. Assistance can be provided, from help with buying food and paying rent to covering funeral expenses. Air Force Aid can also help with utilities, vehicle repair, emergency leave and, in certain circumstances, may be able to help with dental expenses. Applications can be completed online at http://www.afas.org. Representatives are available to help at the Airman & Family Readiness Center in Building 552. Airman and Family Readiness Center
A key resource at McChord Field and a gateway to accessing all of the resources available to you is the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The center provides information, support and services for Airman and their families to help balance the demands of a military lifestyle. Escape Zone
This free program offers parents and their children ages five and younger a chance to learn, socialize and have fun with other parents and children. The Escape Zone is at Building 841, Fairway Road. For more information, call (253) 982-8590/2695.

Army Emergency Relief
Emergency financial assistance is available from the Army Emergency Relief Program, located in Waller Hall, Building 2140, Lewis Main. AER provides interest-free loans and grants to Soldiers, retirees, survivors and their family members. Active duty Soldiers must apply for help in person at the AER office in room 400 at Waller Hall. Spouses must have an AER Power of Attorney or permission from the Soldier to apply in the absence of the Soldier. Assistance with emergency travel is available during normal business hours. For after-hours emergencies, call the Red Cross at (877) 272-7337.

AER also provides educational assistance for families of active duty, retired or deceased Soldiers, including loans and scholarships. Call (253) 967-9852.

Army Family Team Building
Learn Army acronyms as well as basic information about the Army, personal growth skills and leadership skills with Army Family Team Building. The classes improve personal and family preparedness, which enhances overall Army readiness, increases resiliency and helps America's Army adapt to a changing world. Classes are offered at three levels, monthly in the ACS Annex. They can be customized to meet the needs of organizations on the installation. AFTB offers free child care while you take classes. Employment Readiness Program
Create or update your resume, find local jobs and enter the job market with help from the Employment Readiness Office. Located in Building 2166, ERP services are available to all eligible personnel except active duty service members. Active duty service members are required to use the Army Career and Alumni Program transition services. Services are also available to family members of DOD civilians on a space-available basis. The ERP maintains listings of local job openings including federal, state, county and other vacancies. Employment opportunities range from temporary part-time to permanent full-time positions. Job announcements are updated daily. Assistance is provided to those who want to volunteer their services in order to gain additional experience. Computers are available for family members registered with the ERP. The program's coordinator offers assistance on the preparation of applications, resumes and cover letters. Exceptional Family Member Program
The Exceptional Family Member Program provides referral services for educational, housing, community and military services for families with special needs. Early enrollment in the EFMP is the Soldier's guarantee that the Army will do its best to match the Soldier's grade and specialty with a location where their exceptional family member's needs may be met. Information about EFMP enrollment is not given to selection boards; therefore, enrollment does not adversely affect a Soldier's selection for promotion, schools or assignments. Family Advocacy Program
The Family Advocacy Program provides education and prevention programs to help service members and their families maintain a strong family unit. FAP is concerned primarily with the prevention and reduction of spouse and child abuse. The program has two major components: the manager is responsible for the prevention program, which includes educational classes and community awareness, while the Department of Social Work provides treatment at Madigan Healthcare System. The overall program ensures coordination between ACS, DSW and many other components in the community. The program monitors the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation and treatment of domestic violence and child abuse. Classes focus on healthy families and programs that help parents develop positive parenting skills. The classes cover the various aspects of ages and stages in child growth and development and skills that prevent child abuse.

Supplementary classes focus on healthy relationships for service members and their spouses and developing coping skills to prevent domestic violence. These classes are open to all eligible personnel and include topics such as anger and stress management. FAP provides required annual prevention training to all units and service members at JBLM. The program has launched a joint effort between the hospital and the installation.

New Parent Support Program
The New Parent Support Program is a professional team of social workers and registered nurses providing no-cost, in-home free parenting support and educational services to JBLM families with children ages 3 years and younger. The program helps parents learn to cope with stress, isolation, post-deployment reunions and the everyday demands of parenthood. Home visiting services offer parents the opportunity to improve their skills as parents and to learn new skills that may work even better. Victim Advocacy Program
The Victim Advocacy Program's victim advocates provide comprehensive assistance and act as liaisons to and for victims of domestic violence on JBLM. The advocates also strive to educate personnel regarding the most effective responses to domestic violence on behalf of victims and at-risk family members. Military spouses who are victims of domestic violence and are ID card holders are eligible for services of the VAP. The victim advocates are available during regular workday hours Monday through Friday. After-hour reports should be made to the emergency hotline, (253) 966-7233 (SAFE). Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center, Building 4274, serves as the operations/synchronization center that ties Family Readiness Group requirements to garrison support functions. The FRC supports commanders with programs that enhance family readiness, provides resource support for families, coordinates FRG trainings and guides FRG leaders and members in implementing a unit FRG. The facility has meeting spaces for FRG meetings, projects and briefings. The FRC is located on the corner of 9th Division Drive and Idaho Street in Building 4274 at Lewis Main. Call (253) 967-9496.

Financial Readiness
The Financial Readiness Program, located in Waller Hall, Building 2140, Lewis Main, offers one-on-one financial counseling and classes in personal financial management. Financial specialists can help you to construct and follow a budget, manage your credit and improve your credit score, eliminate your debt, lodge consumer complaints, build an emergency savings account and invest for retirement and other long-term goals. Walkins are welcome, but appointments are recommended. Call (253) 967-7166. Classes are available, taught by financial specialists on subjects such as budgeting, credit repair, debt management, saving and investing, insurance and identity theft. To enroll in a class or to receive a schedule of classes offered, call (253) 967-7166. Classes are also taught at unit classrooms and at FRG meetings by request. The program at McChord Field provides information, education and one-on-one financial counseling to assist service members and Families in financial readiness. Referral and Follow-up Service
The Information, Referral and Follow-up Program provides an integrated system of service delivery, which links clients to available and appropriate resources. Intake assessments are conducted with individuals and families in need of social services assistance and refer them to the appropriate program or agency. When necessary the Information, Referral and Follow-up Program will contact referral agencies on behalf of the client. An extensive resource file of local public, private and voluntary service agencies and organizations is available to help clients get the assistance they require. A follow-up visit may be scheduled to ensure that appropriate services were provided and the problem was resolved. JBLM Armed Forces Action Plan
The JBLM Armed Forces Action Plan is a grassroots process to identify the most significant quality of life issues impacting service members, retirees, civilian employees and families, bringing them to the attention of senior leaders for action. Information provided through this process gives commanders and leaders insight into current satisfaction detractors, quality of life needs and the expectations of the base community. Leadership uses the information to effect changes that improve standards of living and support programs. These changes foster a satisfied, informed and resilient community. This yearround process begins at the installation or unit level. It is the preeminent means for commanders at all levels to learn of and seek solutions to the concerns of their communities. Key Spouse Program
The Key Spouse Program enhances family resiliency while an Air Force member is deployed. A key spouse is the face of leadership to families providing peer-to-peer Wingman support, information and referrals to family members. Caring for families on the home front allows the war fighter to focus on his/her mission at home and downrange. The key spouse's performance directly impacts unit families' morale and the commander and first sergeant rely on the key spouse's judgment, reliability and positive attitude to accomplish program goals. Military and Family Life Consultants
Military and Family Life Consultants are licensed professional social workers, psychologists, marriage and Family therapists and counselors who provide situational, problem-solving consultations for education and training support. Topics include combat stress and coping strategies, emotional cycle of deployment and reintegration, communication, relationships issues and re-establishing intimacy, anger management/conflict resolution, parenting skills and children's reactions to deployment and reunion. Consultants do not maintain written records and consultations are confidential. Call (253) 495-8425. Consultants maintain offices in Building 2166 (ACS Annex) at Lewis Main. In addition, there are consultants working with Child, Youth and School Services; they can be reached at (253) 677-3883.

Mobilization and Deployment Program
Commanders, service members and family members can maintain mission readiness and resiliency with assistance from the Mobilization and Deployment Program. The program offers one-on-one deployment and family care plan assistance, as well as provides unit and family readiness group briefings and workshops. Workshop topics include pre-deployment, children and deployment, reunion and family care plans. Battlemind for Spouses, Emotional Cycle of Deployments, Care Team Training and Care Team - The Commander's Role are also held. The office provides multiple resources such as deployment checklists, activity books for children and "Deployment Cycle Readiness: Soldier's, Airmen and Family Member's Handbook." Outreach Program
The main goal of the Outreach Program is to educate service members and families on the services available within ACS. The outreach team provides ACS overview briefings to units, FRGs and pre-deployment and re-deployment events. Briefings and informational displays can be provided on the following services: Financial Readiness, Employment Readiness, Mobilization and Deployment, the Exceptional Family Member Program, Army Emergency Relief, Information and Referral, Relocation Readiness, Army Family Team Building, JBLM Family Action Plan, Family Advocacy Program, Volunteer Corps, Survivor Outreach Services, Military and Family Life Consultants and the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Relocation Readiness
Newly assigned service members and families are welcomed at the Relocation Readiness Program at Waller Hall, Lewis Main and the Airman and Family Readiness Center, McChord Field.

Individual relocation counseling and computerized information - "Plan My Move" installation booklets - from active duty military installations are provided upon request. The office also assists foreign-born spouses by providing information on programs, volunteer opportunities, employment, schools and more. You may obtain a 30-day loan of household items from the ACS Loan Closets at Lewis Main and McChord Field. A copy of your orders is needed to pick up the household items.

During in-processing, you will be required to attend the Newcomer's Orientation, which is usually held on the last Tuesday of each month. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend. Representatives from various FMWR facilities and other installation offices/organizations attend to promote their activities. There you will find information on Family Readiness Groups, libraries and Child, Youth and School Services, as well as the education center, upcoming special events and more. Free onsite child care is provided. Attendees are provided free lunch and a guided bus tour of the installation.

Service members being assigned to McChord Field will in-process at the Military Personnel Section, Building 100, where they will be given a date for the mandatory Newcomers' Orientation. Call (253) 982-9642. The Newcomers' Orientation is twice a month. Representatives from various facilities, installation offices and organizations attend to promote their activities. Soldier and Family Assistance Center
The Soldier and Family Assistance Center was created to provide compassionate, coordinated services to Warriors in Transition and their families. The SFAC is a one-stop shop for services, partnering with the Warrior Transition Battalion as a friendly, supportive team dedicated to encouraging self-development, wellness and to meeting unique needs of WTs and their families.

The SFAC provides a relaxed environment where WTs and their families can gather to access services necessary to assist them in their transitions. The facility includes a central reception area, program services staff offices, computer café with Internet access, child activity area and a lounge with video games, TV and library.

The SFAC serves as a resource center for information and referral services. The onsite program services include child and youth services, education, employment, financial, human resources, social services and veteran's affairs. Other services requiring less than a full-time presence are brought in at designated times. There are also services provided through priority off-site appointment, coordinated by the SFAC staff using a priority Blue Card System.

The JBLM SFAC works to meet the needs of WTs and their families and to involve them as an integral part of the WTs recovery and rehabilitation program. Partnered with the WTB, the SFAC supports the needs of the WTs and their families with support services as they prepare to transition back to their unit or into a productive civilian workforce.

Survivor Outreach Services
Survivor Outreach Services provide long-term support to families who have lost a Soldier. The office assists survivors with financial counseling, money management, information and referral services and support groups. For more information, call (253) 967-7501 or email LewisArmySOS@conus.army.mil.

Volunteer Corps Coordinator
Volunteers - making a better tomorrow today! Learn and develop new skills, network with other professionals and create opportunities for yourself while making a difference in our community. JBLM has a host of volunteer organizations offering many exciting opportunities.

Located in the Family Resource Center, the office will assist you in finding a place to share your time and talent. The office tracks volunteers, monthly hours and conducts annual basewide recognition.

Waiting Families Support Group
Families whose service members are on overseas tours will find support with the Waiting Families Support Group. The primary function is to provide support and to help family members find solutions to their problems. The WFSG also provides an opportunity to meet others in similar circumstances, as well as providing support for the unique problems involved in this type of military tour. Call (253) 967-3633.

Child, Youth and School Services From childcare to sports and instructional classes, Child, Youth and School Services coordinates and provides services for children and youth at JBLM. The CYS Services system has been awarded Department of Defense Certification with commendation, the System of Excellence Award and accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children and National School Age Care Alliance.

Information centers, Parent Central Services, are located in Building 2295 at Lewis Main and Building 560 at McChord Field, to provide a centrally located registration service for all children and youth enrolled in the CYS Services programs. For information on all delivery services, call (253) 966-CYSS. To ensure the safety of your children, families using any of the CYS Services systems must be registered. To register children from birth to school age, parents must provide shot records, birth certificate, names and phone numbers of three local emergency contacts and any other pertinent information regarding the child. Middle school and teen registration must also include parent permission for teens to be transported in a government vehicle for field trips or youth shuttles. Children and youth enrolled in sports programs must provide a current sports physical and local emergency contact phone numbers.

Child Development Services
Child Development Services provides child care services for children from birth through 12 years old. CDS activities are geared toward enrichment and school-readiness programs, which will help your child develop socially, emotionally, mentally and physically. To meet parental preference and children's needs, child care is provided in both home-based and center-based settings. Child Development Centers are state-of-the-art accredited facilities, which are the prototypes for similar construction projects. Full-day care, hourly care and part-day care are provided.

Family Child Care provides the option of a cost-effective child care delivery system that also offers specialized child care services - extended hours, long-term care, care for children with special needs and care for children whose parents are working shifts. Additionally, the FCC delivery system provides employment opportunities for many spouses. The FCC system provides care in certified government quarters that are inspected closely for compliance with fire, safety, health and program quality standards. Call (253) 967-3039.

Kids on Site is a short-term mobile child care program that supports FRG meetings, deployment briefings and unit activities where the parents are onsite. Kids on Site is staffed by CYS Services professional caregivers in KOS approved settings. For more information, call (253) 967-4767.

School Age Services
School Age Services is an accredited child care delivery system that offers before- and after-school programs, full-day programs during school vacations and school closures and summer camp for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Activities are organized within four service areas: arts, recreation and leisure; life skills, citizenship and leadership; sports, fitness and health; and mentoring, intervention and education. Children have the opportunity to join 4-H Clubs and the Boys and Girls Club of America. Special interest areas feature computers, a game room, a library, a cooking club, arts and crafts, science, music and drama. A strong relationship exists between the elementary schools and the SAS program through the Character Counts initiative and homework centers.

Youth Services
Youth Services provides opportunities to JBLM youth, which include league sports programs, sports clinics and various programs and events. Youth sports are recreational in nature and open to a variety of ages and all ability levels. Options in various seasons include baseball, track and field, soccer, basketball and cheerleading. Additionally, opportunities are available to middle school and teenage youth at the Lewis Main Youth Center. In conjunction with Boys and Girls Club of America, the Teen Zone offers leisure and recreational activities such as Keystone Club, Torch Club, Power Hour, Work Force and Technology Center, all of which are designed to teach citizenship, values and leadership. Teens can explore careers and obtain training to join the workforce through the HIRED! Apprenticeship Program. Raindrops & Rainbows Parent
and Child Play Center
The Raindrops & Rainbows Parent and Child Play Center is located in Building 8197, adjacent to Beachwood Child Development Center at Lewis North. It offers young Army and Air Force families a place to play, learn and network. Parents and their children, from birth to 5 years old, may participate in a variety of fun activities, work on school readiness, meet other parents and children and form friendships to last a lifetime. A CYS Services early childhood professional will be on-site to conduct activities with you and your children. Activities range from infant-massage techniques to baby sign language and songs to making play dough and creative art projects.
