Onslow Beach
The Onslow Beach Recreational Area is located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean aboard Camp Lejeune. Onslow Beach lodging and recreational services are provided by the Semper Fit Division, Marine Corps Community Services, Camp Lejeune. The beach facilities are open to all active duty and retired military service members as well as their families. Beachfront cottages, cabanas and trailers are available all year long. Onslow Beach is staffed with lifeguards from May through September. Other amenities include picnic areas for large group parties, swimming areas and oceanfront, open-air covered seashells complete with tables, chairs, dressing rooms and showers. There is a new pet policy in place; call to find out how to make your pet a part of the family vacation.

You may make reservations for cabins, cottages and campsites at the Onslow Beach Reservation Office, Building BA-209 or call (910) 440-7502. The Reservation Office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All payments are due within two working days after reservations are made.

A Marine Corps Exchange convenience store is located on the beach, offering food, beverages and all beach necessities. This exchange is open year round.

Boating
The marinas are the center for all boating, canoeing and sailing at Camp Lejeune and are open year round. Gottschalk Marina (located off Julian Smith Road) and Courthouse Bay Marina offer sailboats, rowboats, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks and private craft docking. Bowling
Camp Lejeune’s newly renovated, 32-lane Bonnyman Bowling Center is located in Building 89 at Hadnot Point. It offers black-light bowling, leagues, a pro shop, a party room and an arcade, and is available for parties and small gatherings. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday, 2 to 9 p.m. For league and other information, call (910) 451-5485/5121. Golf
The Paradise Point Golf course is located on Brewster Boulevard and features two 18-hole courses available for play: the Gold Course (the oldest 18-hole golf course in the Marine Corps) for the experienced golfer and the Scarlet Course for the less-experienced golfer. The clubhouse offers a well-stocked pro shop, a snack bar, an outdoor pavilion and lounge area that may both be reserved for special occasions. Clubs and carts are available for those who’d rather not walk the course. There are also putting greens and two driving ranges available for those looking for a little practice. Free or low-cost golf clinics are conducted periodically, and individual golf lessons with a PGA Professional are available by appointment for a nominal fee. Swimming Pools
Camp Lejeune boasts a number of indoor pools that function both as military training facilities and recreational swimming venues. Swim programs from “water baby” level to adult lessons are available year round. Information can be obtained from the Aquatics Director at (910) 451-1440. Skeet and Trap Shooting
Camp Lejeune has a new Skeet Range featuring five skeet fields and two trap ranges for recreational shooting. Ammunition may be purchased for a nominal fee. The range is open Thursday through Sunday as well as federal holidays. For more information, call (910) 451-3889.

Archery

Fitness Centers
The fitness centers aboard Camp Lejeune offer the latest in state-of-the-art fitness/wellness programming. Designed for those who wish to develop and maintain the optimum in physical conditioning and health, the centers offer the opportunity to enjoy individualized and/or group activities. Individual assessment and instruction at all levels is readily available from a highly competent, professional staff. Gymnasiums
Camp Lejeune offers several gymnasiums throughout base. Some facilities have limited fitness equipment; all offer basketball. For more information, please call (910) 451-3762. Area 3 Gym is the proud home of the USMC Boxing team! Goettge Memorial Field House is a large venue that can accommodate anything from sporting events to large group gatherings. Intramural Sports
The Intramural Sports Program promotes good sportsmanship and goodwill with year-round programs for both men and women. Hunting and Fishing
There are numerous opportunities for sportsmen to hunt and fish aboard Camp Lejeune. The Base Game Warden oversees all hunting and fishing activities. Hunting and Fishing is permitted in accordance with federal, state and base regulations. Active-duty, retired military, and civilian employees are authorized to hunt and fish. The public may participate as a sponsored guest. Base hunting and fishing permits are available through the Base Game Warden and all persons wishing to hunt must pass a base hunter’s safety test in addition to meeting the state hunter safety requirements. Hobby Shops
Auto Hobby and Auto Body Hobby Shops
Camp Lejeune operates an Auto Hobby Shop, (910) 451-1550, as well as an Auto Body Hobby Shop, (910) 451-2042. For convenience, these two buildings are co-located in buildings 1249 and 1250 on Birch Street Extension. In addition to having resident experts, these shops boast a wide variety of diagnostic and repair equipment and tools. The Auto Body Hobby Shop has frame machines, arc and acetylene welders and a resale shop that carries a variety of body repair materials. Wood Hobby Shop
Camp Lejeune’s Wood Hobby Shop is located in Building 1249 on Birch Street Extension. The Wood Hobby Shop is equipped with the hand and power tools required for many projects. Glue, sandpaper, sanding belts and other accessories are also available as well as a small wood resale facility. A shop safety class is required to use the facility. Safety briefs take approximately one hour and are held Wednesday through Friday, 11:45 a.m.; as well as Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Once the video starts, there is no entrance and you must wait until the next class.
