AIR FORCE AID SOCIETY
Administered by the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, this official emergency assistance organization for the Air Force supplements the relief work of the American Red Cross and other agencies. It provides financial assistance in the form of non-interest loans or grants in the case of financial emergencies. For more information, call (940) 676-4257.
AMERICAN RED CROSS
The American Red Cross is available to the military members and their families to verify emergency illnesses or deaths, other emergencies for emergency leave purposes, and health and welfare messages. For more information, call (940) 676-1855. After duty hours call the Red Cross for emergency messages only at (877) 272-7337. Office hours are weekdays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
BASE EXCHANGE
MAIN EXCHANGE COMPLEX
The main exchange complex features a barber and beauty shop, laundry-dry cleaning- alterations service, GNC, optical shop, portrait studio and flower shop. Inside in the Food Court, there's an Anthony's Pizza, Charlie's Steakery and a Cinnabon/Seattle's Best Coffee shop. The Four Seasons Store, which sells lawn and garden accessories, becomes Toyland during the holiday season. The main exchange is open seven days a week which makes every day "no tax day." CLASS SIX STORE
The Class Six Store offers a wide variety of liquors, cordials, beers, wines, snacks and soft drinks. The selection of imported beers and wines is outstanding. The Class Six Store is located in Building 125 next to the Commissary.
FOOD FACILITIES
Along with numerous snack bars and automated food facilities located on Sheppard, AAFES provides base personnel with a Burger King across the parking lot from the main exchange. You'll also find Running Chef mobile snack trucks in operation throughout Sheppard.
MILITARY CLOTHING SALES
The military clothing sales store provides a full range of issue and commercial uniform items for service members as well as PT gear for all branches. They also carry the working uniforms for the Navy and the Digi BDU's for the Marines and insignia for all services. They also carry a full line of boots and shoes. Customers can use the direct dial red phone, located in the store, to order Navy and Marine uniforms and has them quickly shipped. Also available: an alterations shop; rush orders for thin ribbons and nametags; special measurements for hard to fit sizes; books on the professional reading list and PFE study material; souvenirs and specialty coins; Wags; T-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets all geared for the military person. Military sunglasses and watches are also available. You can use cash, check, credit card or star card. Members can also make your star card payments here as well. MINI-MALL
An indoor shopping mall, located in the heart of the dormitory area, provides laundry and dry-cleaning, a Robin Hood sandwich shop, an Anthony's pizza shop, a Taco Bell and a video rental service inside the exchange store. A full service wrapping, shipping and mailing center, video game room, pool tables and a phone and computer center, operated by MCC Communications, are also available.
SERVICE STATIONS
Fuel is available at the South Shoppette, near the main gate and the North Shoppette near the Hospital gate. Autopride car care service, parts and accessories are only available at the South Shoppette along with convenience items and video rental. The North Shoppette also sells a small selection of items.
SHEPPARD CLUB
The Sheppard Club is an "all ranks" club that offers a variety of activities for the entire family featuring daily lunch specials, two lounges (Duffy's Officer Lounge and Tommy D's Enlisted Pub) and facilities for catered functions. The club also offers catering and party rooms for private functions. The club serves lunch Monday through Friday, 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and has a barber shop open to all weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Club membership, dining and catered functions are open to base civilians, officers and enlisted members of all ranks. COMMISSARY
Sheppard's Commissary benefit is delivered from an 81,000 square feet facility carrying over 20,000 line items. Services include a full service bakery and deli as well as traditional meat, produce and grocery departments. The Commissary offers the freshest product with deliveries received six days per week. The 14 checkouts serve some 1,600 shoppers daily. The commissary is open Tuesday through Sunday. MILITARY PERSONNEL SECTION
The Military Personnel Section is the central focal point for military personnel actions. The staff responds to telephone, written and personal queries concerning the personnel section's programs. Information and referral is provided on subjects such as base in-processing, assignments, early release programs, separations, promotions, performance reports, decorations, records, casualty affairs, survivor benefits student relocations and retirement information. The customer service staff also assists customers with DEERS enrollment and ID card issuance.
CIVILIAN PERSONNEL FLIGHT

DINING HALLS
Sheppard has five military dining facilities located in the following Buildings: 526, 776, 805 (Mesquite), 1320 (Sagebrush) and 1368 (Tumbleweed). Call (940) 676-2080 for information.
EDUCATION SERVICES
The Education Services Center is the gateway to many educational opportunities for Sheppard AFB personnel. Education Services facilitate participation in courses for Community College of the Air Force programs, and provide Academic and Vocational guidance/counseling for other courses from basic skills to Graduate level. Colleges represented on Sheppard include:
Vernon College: Vernon College is a junior college offering general education, and management classes on base and associate degrees in two other locations within the City of Wichita Falls.
Wayland Baptist University: Wayland Baptist University offers on base and local associate, bachelor's and master's degrees in Education, Religion and Management to include teaching certification programs. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University: Embry Riddle Aeronautical University offers associate, bachelor's and master's degrees in aviation related programs and in technical management.
Education Services administers the tuition assistance program to Active Duty and Sheppard personnel and provides guidance in the use of the GI Bill in-service education benefits in support of on base and local colleges as well as for distance learning programs. Civilian Tuition Assistance to AETC DoD civilian employees are processed based upon the availability of funding. Professional counselors offer guidance and counseling toward members' vocational goals, commissioning programs and financial aid. The counselors provide guidance in the use of the Air Force Institute of Distributed Learning (AFIADL, formerly ECI) for Professional Military Education, Specialized Courses and some CDCs. CLEP, DANTES, Excelsior, Pearson-flue, SAT, FAA testing is also available on Sheppard. All incoming permanent-party members, as well as any other member interested in pursuing their educational goals & objectives are highly encouraged to visit the Education Services Office in Building 402, 3rd floor.
PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION
Sheppard's Airman Leadership School develops Airmen with a warrior ethos and a passion for leading in the cause of freedom. The mission is to provide the continuum of education necessary to inspire and develop enlisted leaders with the moral framework of integrity, service and excellence.
FIRST TERM AIRMEN CENTER (FTAC)
All first term/first duty station Airmen must be registered for FTAC within 30 days of arrival. FTAC is a five day program that focuses on the transition to a mission-oriented, permanent party mindset through a series of professional development briefings and visits to key base agencies. FINANCIAL SERVICES
Finance Customer Service, located in Building 402, provides military pay, civilian pay and travel pay services to all active duty personnel and employees. Some Services may be limited to inquiry only depending on branch of service. Customer service can also assist with resetting My Pay PINs for all branches of service. For prompt service, have current identification cards and copies of orders. Limited service is also available to retired Air Force members. The financial services ofVce will process all new arrivals as part of their initial base in-processing appointment. MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

N & N TRAVEL (OFFICIAL) TICKET OFFICE
The travel office is a full-service travel company, offering assistance with all official government travel. Office hours are weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except holidays.
SHEPPARD BANK
The Sheppard Bank provides convenient savings and checking account services. It offers complete financial services, including drive-through banking and an automated teller machine.
UNION SQUARE CREDIT UNION
The main office of the Union Square Federal Credit Union is at 1401 Holliday in Wichita Falls. An on base branch offers complete financial services. Membership is open to all military and civilian employees.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
Sheppard's Law Center, Building 315, provides free legal assistance and preventive law information to active-duty and retired members and their families. Appointments are available weekdays. Notary service and powers of attorney are provided free and without appointment anytime weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (940) 676-4262.
CLAIMS
The Claims Office at Sheppard's Law Center is available to assist in the event of loss or damage to personal belongings. For more information, call (940) 676-7200. Area Defense Counsel The Air Force Judiciary's Area Defense Counsel Office provides legal representation to military members who are subjects of courts-martial, Articles 15, discharge or investigative actions. Anyone witnessing a crime or hearing of any unusual or suspicious activities should call the 82nd Security Forces Squadron at (940) 676-1110.
ENERGY CONSERVATION
The base has an aggressive, proactive energy conservation program, administered by the 82nd Civil Engineer Squadron. All are encouraged to use the 24-hour energy hotline at (940) 676-5668 as a forum to make energy savings suggestions or to report energy waste.
POSTAL SERVICE
The base Postal Service Center provides mail service to eligible military members. It receives delivery of all classes of mail addressed to those residing in the dormitories. Hours of operation are weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. Satellite postal service centers are in many of the dormitories. The U.S. Post Office hours of operation are weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE
Keeping the Sheppard community informed of happenings on base and throughout the Air Force is the primary mission of the 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs Office. Media Operations involves getting key messages and information to Sheppard personnel, dependents, retirees and the general public. This is done through the use of internal communication channels and local media outlets. Civic Outreach coordinates off base appearances of senior base leaders and special activities teams, secures speakers for civilian organizations monitors noise complaints, coordinates tours for civic and JROTC groups, and responds to community requests for support. The Squadron Adopter Program is a joint venture between surrounding communities and Sheppard, led by the Wichita Falls Board of Commerce and Industry. This is the Defense Department's most outstanding civic outreach program and will celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year.
SAFETY
Safety and protection of resources are top priorities at Sheppard. The 82nd TRW commander has dedicated the safety staff to everyone at Sheppard to achieve a mishap free stay. Wing Safety staff members are available, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each duty day to assist with every ground/explosives safety issue. The staff promotes safety through education and publicity. It uses the base public website, Accident Prevention Bulletins and the Sheppard Safety Spotlight newsletter to keep Team Sheppard members safe and informed. New arrivals must attend the Traffic Safety Course II, Local Conditions. It's approximately 45 minutes and outlines unique safety situations at Sheppard and the surrounding area. The course is mandatory for permanent party, TDY military and DoD civilian personnel (if here 30 days or more) and new DoD civilian personnel employed at Sheppard. Family members are also welcomed with their sponsors.
MILITARY EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
Military Equal Opportunity is the focal point for the installation Equal Opportunity and Human Relations Education programs. The mission is to provide quality, professional service to enhance equal opportunity in the military community. THRIFT SHOP
The Thrift Shop accepts almost anything for sale on consignment, except guns or flammables. A 15 percent commission fee is charged, in addition to Texas and local sales taxes. Items for sale can be placed with the Thrift Shop for up to three months. All proceeds from sales go into scholarship funds for the enlisted and officer spouses clubs. Members operate the shop. Volunteers are always needed.
TRANSPORTATION
On base transportation for official use is available through the base taxi system. For more information, call (940) 676-1843. Air Force buses operate daily over base routes weekdays, 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., except holidays. City buses provide transportation to Wichita Falls. The buses run Monday through Saturday. A list of stops is available at billeting.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT OFFICE
TMO's personal property section briefs all personnel prior to making a personal property shipment (household goods [Do- It-Yourself moves included], unaccompanied baggage and mobile homes). This office faces a unique challenge because they only get two opportunities to do it right: when a member arrives or departs Sheppard. RECYCLING PROGRAM
Recyclable materials are picked-up from each base facility on a weekly schedule. Facilities may make arrangements for special pick-ups for large amounts of recyclables. For more information, call the Recycling Center at (940) 676-4600. Recyclable materials may also be taken to the 24 Hour Recycling Drop-off Point at any time. The 24 Hour Recycling Drop-off Point is located on Heritage Way in Building 2140, north of the Defense Reutilization and Management Office. Recyclable items include:

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL RECYCLING
If you have any questions on how to dispose of/recycle hazardous materials (such as paint or fluorescent lights), call the 82nd Civil Engineer Squadron Environmental Flight at (940) 676-2415. Please be a good steward of your environment; before you throw something out, consider whether it can be recycled instead.
BASE SELF-HELP STORE
The base Self-Help store is located in Building 1404 and provides materials for building managers to adequately take care of their facility. The store is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4p.m. The store is closed on Wednesdays and weekends. CABLE TELEVISION SERVICE
Commercial cable television service is provided by Time Warner Cable. It is available in base housing, private rooms in the permanent- party dormitories and in the student squadron day rooms. Customers must subscribe to the basic service tier to receive expanded tiers or other optional services such as premium and digital services. Not all services are available in all areas. AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION
The Air Force Association is an independent, nonprofit, aerospace organization, serving military members and civilians with an interest in furthering the ideals of the U.S. Air Force. It was established and incorporated in 1946. For more information, call (940) 723-2741.
CIVIL AIR PATROL
The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. It is open to any U.S. citizen. The cadet program is open to youth who have completed the sixth grade, and are 12 to 18 years old. The mission of the CAP is air search and rescue, emergency services, aerospace education and the cadet program. COMPANY GRADE OFFICER COUNCIL
The Sheppard Company Grade Officer Council is an active, growing organization of lieutenants and captains from throughout the base. The CGOC promotes career enhancement and development, Reserve Officer Training Corps field training assistance, trips to the Air Force Military Personnel Center at Randolph AFB, Texas and many civic events and activities.
DAEDALIANS
The Order of the Daedalians is a nonprofit organization promoting safety in Wight and encouraging educational, scientific and charitable pursuits that advance the order's objectives. Membership is open to all active duty and retired military pilots of heavier than- air craft. The local chapter meets monthly at the Sheppard Club.
ENLISTED SPOUSES CLUB
Spouses of enlisted members are invited to join and participate in the activities of the club. Widows of deceased members and female enlisted members assigned to Sheppard are also invited to join. Club activities include business meetings, workshops, luncheons and welcome coffees.
OFFICERS SPOUSES CLUB
The Sheppard Officers' Spouses Club is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to sponsor a wide variety of education, charitable and social activities each month. Our membership is as varied as the activities we provide. PRIVATE AND
PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
Sheppard hosts a variety of private and professional organizations. These include the Professional Military Education Graduates Association, Noncommissioned Officers Association, Air Force Sergeants Association and Toastmasters. For more information, call (940) 676-4812.
RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES
There are three chapels and a religious education facility on base. It's staffed by a dedicated group of chaplain service specialists, program coordinators and laity. The chapel program includes a variety of Catholic and Protestant worship opportunities. A preschool through adult religious education program includes several adult classes, a specialized student airman ministry featuring weekend retreat opportunities and active youth groups. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are many worthwhile organizations on base and in the local area. Sheppard people are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents. SCOUTING OPPORTUNITIES
Active Boy Scouts organizations include Cub Scout Pack 232 and Boy Scout Troop 232. Troop 232 meets at 6:30 p.m. each Monday. Girl Scout units include one Daisy troop, four Brownie troops, three Junior troops and one Cadet troop.
