With 789 newly constructed units completed at Wright-Patterson, this will bring the number of base housing units to 2,012.

1,186 units are located in The Prairies at Wright Field, adjacent southeast of Area B. Of these, 382 units will be assigned to officers and 804 units to enlisted personnel.

The Woods at Wright Field, east of Area B, will provide 350 newly renovated, privatized units of both single and duplex quarters, of which 192 are assigned to officers and 158 to enlisted personnel.

Located in Area A of the base in the Green Acres and Pine Estates areas are an additional 374 units. For officers there are 118 units and 256 units for enlisted personnel. These duplexes consist of single level and 2-story quarters.

Also in Area A are 102 brick quarters for senior and general officers. Of these, there are 37 three-bedroom single cottages, 10 four-bedroom single quarters located on Yount Drive and 34 duplex quarters for senior officers. Nine single-family dwellings and 12 duplex quarters for general officers are also in this area.

Civilian employees as well as military members may review up-to-date listings of approved accommodations within commuting distance of Wright-Patterson by visiting the off base housing office. It is located on Hickham Road, 257-6547.

The base exchange and commissary are in Building 1250 Kittyhawk Center. This modern mall complex houses various concessions including a bank, bakery/deli, ice cream, flower, optical, beauty/barber shops, laundry/dry cleaners and a Country Junction store, as well as the main BX and commissary. There is a food court with Anthony’s Pizza, Robin Hood Sandwiches and Burger King in the mall area of the BX. Hertz car rental is also available in the mall-call 878-6217 for delivery. The BX operates several branch stores, shoppette/gas station, laundry and dry cleaning shops, a GNC healthy center, home and garden center/Class Six, the base theater and Einstein Bagel shop at the Hospital. BX purchases are limited to military personnel and persons possessing a DD Form 1173 or other authorized identification. Civilians who are TDY and residing in the VOQ are authorized to shop in the BX, providing their orders are stamped by the VOQ. These purchases are limited to necessities such as toiletries.
